Comparing and Contrasting Management Information Systems (MIS) in Amazon and Tesla
Amazon and Tesla are two of the leading companies in the US. Both of the companies use advanced technology in the information system. Two of the companies use management information systems in various ways.
Hardware and Software
Both the companies, Amazon and Tesla, use the hardware and software in the management of information systems. The use of hardware and software systems is one of the vital parts of the information systems. It is through the hardware and software systems; the information system can be managed. However, the use of hardware is very less on Amazon. Amazon is an e-commerce company that operates based on cloud storage. Therefore, the tangibility of the hardware systems is negligible in the case of Amazon.
However, cloud storage and e-commerce operations are carried out by hardware systems. Amazon uses highly advanced hardware systems to operate. One such operating system is AWS routers run a customized Broadcom Tomahawk ASIC with 7 billion transistors and 128 ports (Ashford, 2020). The company also uses advanced software operating systems that help them to grow their business at a fast rate. Amazon uses Linux operating systems to carry out the programs of the management of Information systems.
Tesla uses an existing tangible firm that provides cars to customers. Tesla uses massive hardware and software systems to provide services to customers. There are several computers, monitors and other concrete hardware systems that make the work of Tesla smooth. Collaborative CAD systems are used by Tesla to implement engaging tools for cars (Cheong, Song & Hu, 2016).
Since the company produces high-tech vehicles, the company uses high high-tech hardware as well. The CAD system helps in identifying the errors in manufacturing and information systems and tries to rectify it as soon as possible. The company uses the JIT inventory system in hardware. The JIT inventory system helps in increasing the productivity of the company. According to the reports, there is a 400% improvement in the automobiles because of inventory management.
