Page 1 of 8 Task Summary For Assessment 1, you will be required to research and write a 1500-word report on Agile methods, processes and the Agile approach. This report needs to be written from the perspective of explaining the Agile software development process to someone who has no understanding of the Agile approach, as if it is being implemented in an organisation for the first time. Please refer to the Task Instructions for details on how to complete this task. Context As organisations have started to adopt an Agile approach to software development, the role of the Business Analyst has evolved from longer analysis and design activities done from initiation to completion, to a world where software is produced iteratively as smaller releases in sprints. For you to succeed in a role as an Agile Business Analyst, you will require an understanding of Agile methods, processes, and approaches. Create a report plan and identify all the key components that will be required in your report to meet the assessment brief requirements. 3. Refer to the Assessment Rubric to ensure you address all the assessment criteria. Report Structure • The report is brief and therefore will not require an executive summary or abstract. • Title page: Include subject ID, subject name, assessment title, student’s name, student number and lecturer’s name. • Table of contents: Include all key components of this assessment. • Introduction (175-200 words): Also serves as your statement of purpose for the report. This means that you will tell the reader what you are going to cover in your report. You will need to inform the reader of: ▪ Your area of research and its context ▪ The key concepts you will be addressing ▪ What the reader can expect to find in the body of the report • Body of the report (1000-1100 words): ▪ Why has Agile emerged as a software development approach? ▪ What values and principles drive Agile? ▪ The Scrum process – including events/ceremonies and artefacts/documents. ▪ Agile teams – key roles, size and possible composition configurations. ▪ The role of the Agile Business Analyst • Layout: • The report should use font Arial or Calibri 11 point, should be line spaced at 1.5 for ease of reading and page numbers on the bottom of each page. • With the required diagrams, due attention should be given to pagination to avoid loss of meaning and continuity by unnecessarily splitting information over two pages. Diagrams must carry the appropriate captioning. • Conclusion (175-200 words): Summarise any findings or recommendations that the report puts forward regarding the concepts covered in the report. Link the conclusion back to your introduction. • References: A minimum of four to six references are required for this assessment, with at least three being academic sources. (An academic source is one that has been peer-reviewed or cited in the past). All research and images used must be referenced using APA style. Referencing It is essential that you use appropriate APA style for citing and referencing research or images used. All referencing must be in accordance with the university’s APA Referencing and Academic Writing Guide.
