Page 1 of 8 Task Summary For Assessment 1, you will be required to research and write a 1500-word report on Agile methods, processes and the Agile approach. This report needs to be written from the perspective of explaining the Agile software development process to someone who has no understanding of the Agile approach, as if it is being implemented in an organisation for the first time. Please refer to the Task Instructions for details on how to complete this task. Context As organisations have started to adopt an Agile approach to software development, the role of the Business Analyst has evolved from longer analysis and design activities done from initiation to completion, to a world where software is produced iteratively as smaller releases in sprints. For you to succeed in a role as an Agile Business Analyst, you will require an understanding of Agile methods, processes, and approaches. Task Instructions To complete this assessment task, you must: 1. Review your subject notes, essential readings, and learning activities to ensure that you are well prepared for the assessment. Create a report plan and identify all the key components that will be required in your report to meet the assessment brief requirements. 3. Refer to the Assessment Rubric to ensure you address all the assessment criteria. Report Structure • The report is brief and therefore will not require an executive summary or abstract. • Title page: Include subject ID, subject name, assessment title, student’s name, student number and lecturer’s name. • Table of contents: Include all key components of this assessment. • Introduction (175-200 words): Also serves as your statement of purpose for the report. This means that you will tell the reader what you are going to cover in your report. You will need to inform the reader of: ▪ Your area of research and its context ▪ The key concepts you will be addressing ▪ What the reader can expect to find in the body of the report • Body of the report (1000-1100 words): ▪ Why has Agile emerged as a software development approach? ▪ What values and principles drive Agile? ▪ The Scrum process – including events/ceremonies and artefacts/documents. ▪ Agile teams – key roles, size and possible composition configurations. ▪ The role of the Agile Business Analyst • Layout: • The report should use font Arial or Calibri 11 point, should be line spaced at 1.5 for ease of reading and page numbers on the bottom of each page. • With the required diagrams, due attention should be given to pagination to avoid loss of meaning and continuity by unnecessarily splitting information over two pages. Diagrams must carry the appropriate captioning. • Conclusion (175-200 words): Summarise any findings or recommendations that the report puts forward regarding the concepts covered in the report. Link the conclusion back to your introduction. • References: A minimum of four to six references are required for this assessment, with at least three being academic sources. (An academic source is one that has been peer-reviewed or cited in the past). All research and images used must be referenced using APA style. Introduction
Agile scrum
is a new technology which has been applied in the industries and is considered a part of computer science and engineering program. There has been evidences of various agile driven data and agile practices, methodologies and tools which are extracted by the students. Through this analysis we will be able to identify the scrum process, its necessity in the present day-to-day business practices, the roles and size of the agile team. Based on this we will also able to determine the various processes used in the scrum framework to satisfy the demands of the product owners.

Why has Agile emerged as a software development approach?
Agile is considered to be a gold standard when it is considered as testing methodologies. It is entrenched deep into adaptive forecasting with fast delivery and consistent improvement. Due to agile methodologies the organizations are able to respond fast as well as make necessary changes for launching new products and services in the market. It also helps them to keep themselves up with the competitive market. It also helps the organizations to transform their work from manual documentation process to a more lightweight story-card approach. There are several benefits of adopting agile technology in the organization. These are engaging the team by providing more opportunities for cooperating within the teams. It also enables the projects to be completed in shorter timeline, making it more manageable, rolling out quickly and changing easily at any point of time. It also allows more flexibility allowing constant updates through customer feedback and make necessary changes to improve the product. The overall quality of the projects improves as agile methodologies have the ability to recognize and solve the issues quickly and efficiently (Tom Alexander, 2019).
It is only after the discovery of agile methodologies it has facilitated the team to improve significantly the value of the software. Also, it has allowed the teams to adopt themselves to changes at a fast pace. Since, the agile methodologies consists of sprints which consists of short, time-boxed iterations it makes the work smooth and easy to process. Each of the sprints results in a working of product. The success of the product does not depend on small reiterations but also is based on association within the team which is hard to recognize in traditional methodologies. It is a short period which may be two weeks during which the crew works on a number of features which is called user stories. These user stories are items which are delivered within two weeks. These sprints consist of features which are much smaller than that available in the waterfall project. Thus, by limiting the features, the organizations are able to manage product development and release cycle. The agile team consists no more than 12 individuals. It generally includes developers, product owner, business analysts, QA testers and product manager who are called scrum masters. It is product development which has to do with all other roles in a company (Mundim et al.; 2002). It’s the product owner who joins the stand-up meeting to discuss the progress. Finally, the team releases at the end of the sprint and begins the planning session in the next sprint. Thus, it’s the agility which is the core necessity for any organization due to which Agile was developed as a software development approach (Dove, 1994b).
