Introduction
This report addresses benefits of the microservices architecture with regard to the case study of the Greer John Wealth Management Pty Ltd. This is an organisation, which has been dealing with the investment portfolios of the customers. This organisation has been innovative at the time with its features of the accounting and investments.
a. Key Area of Research and its Context
The main area of the research or the context is that, organisation has been progressing with its monolithic architectural patterns for dealing with the work but this structure has been falling back. The company has a need of installing cloud-based solutions such as micro services, upon which the whole research will be based.
b. Key Concepts to be addressed
The key concepts, which will be addressed in this report, are the benefits of the micro services architecture for the organisation. Next key concepts are the changes, which need to be made in the company in order to have the suitable transition of its monolithic structural patterns for the future success. The third key concept is the explanation of installing the tool DevOps. Additionally, how the two processes such as the typical build processes and the test build processes stands significant for Greer John Wealth Management Pty Ltd.
c. Report Map
The things, which the readers can find in the body of the report, are that, how the microservices architecture can set a good contrast in the work progress in comparison from the monolithic structure. Next, the changes, which would take place, can give more success than previous matters. The report will conclude by giving the readers an analysis as to how the tool and the processes stand fruitful.
1. Benefits of Transition from Monolithic to Microservices Architecture Improved Productivity and Speed
The main benefit, which Greer John Wealth Management Pty Ltd has been likely to get from transition to the microservices architecture, is that it can greatly tackle the productivity and the speed of the issuing of investments. The monolithic architecture takes time for the issuing of the investments for two days, whereas this microservice does that instantly with its upgraded technology. With its high speed, micro services can decompose the applications in manageable services, which are faster to develop for the investments. The monolithic architecture cannot decompose the applications (Balalaie, Heydarnoori & Jamshidi, 2016). The monolithic structure gives a return for productivity by 2% whereas micro services increase the productivity by 8%
Flexibility in Using Technologies
The other advantage for the transition to the micro services architecture is that it helps in dividing a system into smaller components. This gives more flexibility for the applications to perform for the investment portfolios. Hence, microservices make the services composable and complete. However, in the monolithic services the services are adjoined together, which do not provide that flexibility for the application to perform smoothly in Greer John Wealth Management Pty Ltd. This can even make the customers enraged (Aderaldo, Mendonca, Pahl & Jamshidi, 2017). The software of the microservices has the speed for 5.4mp, which gives better grip and flexibility whereas the monolithic service has only 2mp, which is less. Microservices would be running with the APIs system in this organisation
Organised around Business Capabilities
It can be said that the micro services architecture has been fruitful for the progress of the work of the business capabilities in Greer John Wealth Management Pty Ltd. The obvious example of it is that micro services can facilitate autonomous and cross-functional teams, which will be able to take complete authorisation of the business issues such as investments in the organisation. With this feature, company will have the reduction of the risks that can be lined from the services of the investments and the accounting done for the customers. It can help in making the organisation digitally potential with its cloud mechanism, for which the organisation has been falling back in the market domain (O'Connor, Elger & Clarke, 2017). The monolithic architecture is devoid of a cloud system, which makes it incapable for the Greer John Wealth Management Pty Ltd.
Enhanced Scalability
Microservices has a higher scalable system, which can be beneficial for the Greer John Wealth Management Pty Ltd. This is because with this feature it can help in the increasing of the higher customisable infrastructure and can meet the needs of the customers fast, in this organisation. The higher scalable...
