Introduction
Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that was a number of problems in individual and has a number of effects in his or her personal or social life. In this disease, a person interprets reality dif
ferently or rather normally which results in hallucinations and other abnormal experiences in life. There are a number of factors affecting this disease among which historical and cultural backgrounds play a vital role. The region of Bexley Borough in South-East London is a place of diverse statistics with a number of people from various cultures and communities. This region is greatly affected by the disease of schizophrenia in people of varying ages. Therefore, it can be deduced that the life of schizophrenic people is often filled with a number of abnormal experiences, which make life difficult for them. In this article, we shall discuss the various problems that are faced by people suffering from schizophrenia including mental and social trauma that they undergo throughout their lives in a number of ways.
The symptoms
Schizophrenia has been categorized as one of the major mental illnesses that are faced by people of the world and the profound effect of schizophrenia has intrigued the medical community for a number of years.
Effects on health
The most astounding effect of the disease is the distorted interpretation of reality by the patients which include a deleted for section of the reality that the patients are living in. As opined by Singh et al. (2016), due to this disease patients often experience number of factors like hallucination that hamper their regular functioning of life to a great extent. Schizophrenia also causes distorted thinking and certain behaviors that compare the daily functioning of life making the life of the patient difficult to carry on without the aid of proper nursing and care. With high suicidal tendencies and social disturbance caused due to this disease, it has a relatively high mortality rate in aged people which are nearly 13%. In young adults and teenagers, the rate of affect and mortality rates are relatively lower, around 7%. A relatively stable mobility rate of around 10% is a key feature of schizophrenia in this region. Schizophrenic patients need bike long treatment, which means they need to be taken care of throughout their lives due to the lack of any curing process until now. The mortality rate of Schizophrenia was initially high with suicidal tendencies soaring high but with modern techniques of counseling and therapy, the mortality rate has come down by a great extent.
Emotional effects
Mental issues often impaired the senses of the patients, which make them believe in certain things that are not happening in reality. This makes it difficult for them to judge and distinguish between reality and imagination. For a patient his or her imagination often becomes their reality and that makes it difficult for them to analyze the situation and results in confusion on the part of the patients. Due to cultural constrains, many families try to hide the symptoms and hide the patient suffering from schizophrenia. This leads to an adverse effect and health is compromised. This disease also gives rise to extremely abnormal motor behavior which means that the motor nerves do not function properly making it difficult for the individuals to incorporate proper posture and the complete lack of response or excessive movement is a typical characteristic of this disease. Disorganized thinking is characterized by this organization in speech in the individuals, which is often accompanied by oration of unrealistic materials by the patients, which are often incomprehensible and absurd.
Social Effects
Patient suffering from schizophrenia are likely to be agitated in certain aspects and childlike silliness is often a marking symptom of this disease. The agitation caused in the patients often makes them violent towards strangers specifically and the handling of these patients is a very crucial job to be done. The Nursing of schizophrenic patients demands skilled knowledge in the subject and patience in the field of nursing. Therefore we can see that handling of a schizophrenic patient is not an easy task and calls for scale of the utmost level in healthcare professional. As Baxley Borough is a place of diverse cultures and statistics, the social stress caused due to schizophrenia in patients of this region is also high. Apart from social isolation, they also face confusion, unacceptability and social bullying. Hallucinations that are caused in the patients of schizophrenia often get them convince that their imagination is reality and therefore your health care professional has to pay extra care on bringing the patients to reality and establishing a connection between them and their reality in the most feasible way.
Problems faced by schizophrenic people
The problems faced by schizophrenic patients are manifold in nature. Firstly, the medical condition does not allow them to cope with the reality and their imagination and makes it difficult for them to distinguish between the realities that they are living and the reality that they imagine to be.
