What easily allows us to recognize personal and professional development is: Professional Skills - job-related skills are the specific skills you need to do a certain job, Personal Skills - skills what we use in daily life. Simply put, professional development is focused on the workplace. It's the development of skills in relation to my job to help me keep more effective in the workplace. Personal development is more focused on communications, time management etc. To me, professional development falls under the categories of personal development. But it’s much more than that. Personal and professional goals are extremely important to help me be better. They have a lot of overlap because what helps me personally can also help me professionally and vice versa. significant amount of plagiarism so will need to be reworded in your own words » Task 1b Explain THREE (3) benefits of personal and professional development for an individual. Improving my Self-Awareness: It helps my become more self-aware. I get to know who I am, my values, beliefs and the purpose I wish to pursue. This is the first key step in the personal and professional development process. When you are chasing your own goals, there is as much pleasure to be derived from the journey as there is to be derived from reaching your destination. It gives me a sense of direction and makes my more clear on what I want to achieve and it also makes the decision making process easier. I can focus on doing the things that take me towards achieving my objectives. 2. Improving motivation -I will become more motivated. When you know what you want to achieve, it is easier for you to see the benefits of taking action. Even when the task ahead is not enjoyable; if you can see a clear benefit, you are more motivated to take the necessary action. For example learning languages can be a major part of my personal development plan. Not only will speaking more than one language help me stand out from the crowd (and it is a very impressive achievement) but I could also open yourself up to a world of new career opportunities with more companies than ever having a global outlook. If you learn the language, this could be me chance to make that move to your dream job abroad or to move up the ladder in the UK. Learning a language will improve some of your key skills such as negotiating, communication and problem solving and it will give you more confidence. Studies also show that learning another language increases your brain capacity, improves your memory. 3. Clarity- Personal development brings clarity. Even with an improved sense of direction, there will always be multiple tasks looking for my attention. As my personal development improves, prioritisation becomes much easier. I'm clearer on my objectives and I can quickly identify which task will give me the best result with the resources available to me at that moment. significant amount of plagiarism so will need to be reworded in your own words » Task 1c Identify THREE (3) benefits to the organisation of individuals undertaking personal and professional development. When it comes to advice within the workplace, instead of being called advice it’s more likely called feedback and sometimes constructive criticism. This term is also used for business, educational, institutional, and professional settings. There are good types of feedback and bad types of feedback. The types of feedback are positive feedback, negative feedback, and constructive feedback. Positive feedback focuses on what someone is doing good at (praise) and reinforcing that behaviour. Negative feedback focuses on criticism about the person or behaviour which tends to be a judgment or opinion. Critical feedback is another term for negative feedback. Constructive feedback is information specific, issue-focused and based on observations. Personal development can help you make better and more informed decisions. It also tends to involve reading which actually does make you smarter.
