Gautam Buddha
Gautama Buddha was a monk, philosopher, teacher and a religious leader, based on his teachings the Buddhism was founded. As discussed by Rijal, he mainly taught a middle path between the sensual indulgence and the severe asceticism. He was born in Lumbini, which is presently in Nepal. He led the life of being a family person. However, during his life, he faced certain aspects of life that compelled him to understand the deeper meaning of life. Therefore, he left the life of a king to become a monk begging for alms and preaching his teachings while travelling various places. The main reason I have chosen this figure as it really surprised me that how can any person take such path and try to understand his point of view regarding the path he has taken.
