There was a case for the appeal of 3rd circuit which held in the united states court, said that the law enforcement officers need to have a valid warrant prior of installing the GPS on the vehicle of suspect. The GPS stands for Global positioning System which helps to find out the location of any person or vehicle.
The opinion was built on the basis of recent decision taken by the Supreme Court of the United States in which the court said that the installation of a GPS device includes some search which are against the protection rules made under 4th amendment (Gatewood, J. C). The court had 3 judge panel in Katzin And it was unanimous to apply the warrant for the requirement but the ratio was 2:1 on another issue which was related to its which says whether the police can conduct any instance and it must be excusable under the good faith exception.
