Infographic Assignment Although you are not required to use Venngage, it is strongly recommended. Please let us know ahead of time if you plan on using another software. Save the infographic as a PDF, add the one paragraph explanation as a second page (see last bullet) and upload the single document to Canvas by the due date. • You will make an infographic about climate change (first on an issue, then on a solution – the two do not have to be connected) geared at a non-scientific audience. Think of this as being something you could share with friends or family. Feel free to target a specific group (e.g., kindergarteners, college students, policy makers in DC, or your church) as designing needs to take into account your focus audience. • It must be: 1. Informative and Accurate 2. Clear 3. Eye catching – presentation matters! • You all have access to an account in Venngage. See the Venngage website and video tutorials (in addition to what we will talk about in class) for strategies on designing an effective Infographic. • A quick Googling can produce many good examples of infographics. Venngage also provides templates and ideas for starting infographics. • Regarding content, you may use just about anything assuming properly sourced (i.e., cited) • Regardless of the topic you choose, you are required to include 2–3 quantitative elements. Including a single number or value does not count as a quantitative element. Rather, a quantitative element is something that conveys quantitative information graphically (think: comparisons, ranks, group membership, etc.). • Here are some ideas for what your infographic should include: 1. A title 2. Your name 3. 2-3 quantitative elements 4. 2-3 pictures/artwork 5. A QR code to more info 6. Citations Attach a short paragraph (<250 words) describing what you made, why you picked the topic, and who your target audience is. words)="" describing="" what="" you="" made,="" why="" you="" picked="" the="" topic,="" and="" who="" your="" target="" audience="">
