Solangture Application Company background: Solangture Pty. Ltd is an Australian events company established in 2009. The core value of Solangture Pty. Ltd. is to build Society through preservation of Language and Culture. Solangture predominantly works with the Nepalese Diaspora of Australia to promote and integrate Nepalese Culture in the multicultural Australian facet. Context background: Since early 2007, an influx of Nepalese migrants have arrived in Australian shore for better future. Today Nepal is the fourth largest exporter of students to Australia. With this influx, has risen a challenge to preserve the Nepalese Language and culture and most importantly integration of Nepalese culture in the pre-established Australian multicultural environment (where Anglo-Saxon, Greek, Indian, Chinese and more cultures are thriving). In order to solve this, Solangture for the past decade has organised multiple events. Some of the past Solangture events are: 1. Maha-Yatra (a comedic-satirical play journey by Mr. Hari Bansa Acharya and Mr. Madan Krishna Shrestha) 2. Katha Nalapani ko (a tribute play remembering the start of the 200 years of Gurkha legacy) 3. Melbourne Dabali (an open stage platform provided quarterly to promote creativity within the community and to provide an outlet to creatives so they can manage proper work-life and promote better mental health) 4. MOMO Fest (initially M Festival) – an annual festival promoting Nepalese culture, values to the multicultural Australia through the beloved Nepalese dumpling called MO:MO: 5. Melbourne International Dumpling Festival (MIDF) – an annual festival incepted in 2019, to permanently place Nepalese Dumpling (MOMO) in the international dumpling space. All the while, integrating multicultural dynamics to Nepalese culture. Problem Statement Solangture is a team of eight people, all of us holding a 9-5 job. With each event/ festival comes a lot of planning and tracking of progress. We would like to see an application that can · Manage our documents · Due dates for documents such as Public Liability Insurance, etc · Manage our customer database · Potential customers can view our events, and sign up plus buy tickets · Contact, Email the customers (recommended, not necessary) · Partner Management - With Festival, Solangture also needs to manage its partners (eg. Food Vendors in MIDF). We would like to dynamically manage: · Track Vendor Applications · Track Vendor Profiles · Track Invoices · Promote our events and partners digitally. What we would like to see: Ideally, we would like to see a secure web based CRM website that is responsive, scalable and modular. The database needs to be hosted separately than the website. The quality of the meat is monitored in real time by cycle of smell/gas sensor connected to a network system that alerts the user about the current meat quality. The project also aims to regulate the monitorization of temperature of the meat storage and effective stock management using RFID. 1. Introduction The project “An IOT based real-time meat inventory management system” is based on sensors that detects the quality of meat. For the meat quality detection, ‘Raspberry pi’ smell sensor will be used. A temperature sensor will be used to monitories the temperature of meat storage. Effective meat stock will be managed by using RFID tag and reader and manage different items accordingly. Rest of the report is organised as: Rest of the report consists of 5 sections. Problem domain and research questions As per the data from Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations published on 2012, out of 263 Million tonnes of meat produced globally, almost 20% of those are wasted per year. The major reason behind the reason of the wastage of the meat is believed to be the lack of proper storage of meat products [1]. Figure 1: Loss of meat product as per FAO, 2012 [1] The main reason behind wastage of the meat is improper storage of the meat. Specially on the developing and underdeveloped country, lack of proper equipment like fridge or freezer makes the meat product being wasted. Such improper storage practice increases the amount of wastage meat. Similarly, even when those meats are stored properly either in freezer or in the fridge, sometime, power failure may result those meats to be inedible. Similarly, when the meat product is stored in large quantity, they are supposed to be rotated within the storing process with the principle of first come first out. But when this principle is not followed properly, the meat produced later is used first than that of the meat that is produced early. This results in the earlier meat being wastage. This is also one of the major reasons where meat is stored in large quantity. Also, when they are not monitored, the temperature within the cool room, freezer or even in the display fridge are not monitored properly, then it may result the meat to be decaying. Overall, it is believed that, lack of effective stock management system is the major reason behind the wastage of meat in such huge amount per annum. Research Questions: - The main goals or research questions for this project are:  Can we build a system which can reduce the meat waste.?  Can we monitor factors affecting meat quality in Real Time to help with better decision making?  Can we build a real time tracking and display system to prioritise the meat inventory based on expiry? The project has following research objectives: Qualitative Objectives:  Investigates on various strategies to be built to setup the real-time meat inventory system.  Investigate on various hardware and software can be used to develop the project.  Explore if Raspberry Pi or Arduino, micro-controllers could be used to achieve project goals. Quantitative Objectives:  Optimal quantity of meat can be measured by the sensor at once.  Effectively tracking duration of the alert displayed by the sensor. 3. Background and Project Objective As per client, the shop lacks proper stock management due to which there is large wastage. So, analysing problem and requirement from client, “An IOT based Real-Time Meat Inventory Management System” is purposed. In this project, for real-time meat quality detection, smell sensor (using Raspberry Pie and smell sensor) is used to detect smell out of meat to deliver it to customer and temperature sensor and monitoring is done and secondly, for stock management, RFID is used to allocate different meat products to its suitable location. Here are some of the review beforehand the project. IOT IOT is influencing our lifestyle to make is easy. Many devices such as watch, air conditioner, cars etc are connected to the internet and can be managed through the internet. IOT have enhanced the lifestyle of people. So, the number of devices connected to internet has increased rapidly now a days as a research data shows more than 5 million of devices are connected to internet every day and is expected to reach 20 billion by the year 2020 [2]. IOT not only connects to internet but also engages Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning which provides different level of services to the customer [3]. For our project, we are also developing the IOT based system to track the quality of meat and measure the temperature of meat and notify the client before it will go off. So, we research the best way to provide the quality services so that the client and the customer can get the best of the best result with IOT devices. We can use temperature and smell sensor for the shop to maintain the quality of the meat. RFID background information: RFID is a smart technology that stores the products information in an electronic tag. An RFID System has its major components such as Tags, Antennas, Reader, Software, EPC (Electronic Products Code) [4]. This technology can be used to track the item and for inventory system. RFID based system helps to track the products stored inside the company and alert if any products get lost or missed [5]. Figure 2: RFID tag and reader [4] RFID system plays an important role in order to store the products information such as dispatched date, expiry data, type of products and its brands within an electronic tag called transponders. RC522 RFID modules [6] are better to implement to simply connect them with a Raspberry Pi in order to read the specific tags called MIFIRE. These RFID tags generate a unique identification (UID) for each of the products of the butcher shop, which can be read by the Raspberry Pi. Real-Time Display After the invention of a portable and cheap sensor, by chemist at MIT [7], that can detect the gases within the certain area, that are emitted from the meat which are not up to the standard to be consumed. Indeed, it allows customers to make sure if the meat is edible or not. Within the sensor, it consists of chemically modified carbon nanotubes. As per the Professor of Chemistry at MIT [7], it can be installed within the package called as smart packaging. It is also mentioned that the food waste could be reduced to some extent, as people are throwing away the good food, probably which may not be the bad one to be thrown away. As mentioned, Carbon nanotube can be altered chemically so the ability of carrying electric current may vary in the presence of specific gas.
