Assessment is to occur:  Address of actual designated workplace if different from CAC venue: …………………………………………….. ……………………………………………..  Your Assessor will use the assessment criteria in this document and will provide feedback / comment.  Your Trainer / Assessor will inform you of the due date for this assessment task.  Your Assessor will grade as either S – Satisfactory or NS – Not Satisfactory for the assessment. In all cases your Assessor will provide you with feedback.  Only when all assessment tasks have been graded as S – Satisfactory you will be deemed C – Competent in the final result of the unit of competency; if you do not satisfactorily complete all the assessment tasks you will be deemed NYC – Not Yet Competent. Specific Resources Required  Learner Guide / Handouts / Text Book  CAC Assessment Booklet  Automotive repair workplace or simulated workplace  Workplace instructions detailing customer fault complaint  Manufacturer vehicle or machinery specifications  Three (3) different vehicles or machinery with system faults specified in the performance evidence  Tools, equipment and materials required for diagnosing system faults. Re-assessment To gain competency you need to get Satisfactory (S) result in all the tasks. If Not Satisfactory (NS) result is given even for a task you will be deemed Not Yet Competent (NYC). Students who are unsuccessful at achieving competency at the first attempt will be offered coaching, information and additional time (other needs if required) before a second and possibly a third attempt is made. If the student is not able to satisfactorily complete the assessment after the third attempt the student will be deemed Not Competent and resulted as such. The student may re-enrol in the qualification at a later date to gain successful completion of the unit/s. It is important that assessors do not teach at the assessment but allow students to competence for themselves. Feedback is to be given at the completion of the assessment using the feedback to student. If a student does not meet a standard, the assessor is to sit down with them and assist them in their understanding. Should you disagree with the assessment outcome, you can appeal the decision as stated in the Student Handbook. Your student record must indicate that you have all required skills and knowledge in completing the task. For each assessment, the assessor is to act as a supervisor and not interfere with the assessment. In the event that the assessment activities will impact on your safety or that of others, the assessment must be stopped immediately. Attaching documents Attached documents are accepted but must be labelled with the following information: Unit Name and Title, Students name, Student ID, Date of Submission, Student signature. To work on the drive line, shafts or axles, the street rod must be lifted up.  Use the correct procedure when lifting the vehicle on a hoist.  Also, if you don’t have a vehicle lift, always use jack stands to support the vehicle safely. Be careful not to crush your fingers or hand when the differential is being removed, disassembled, or reinstalled.  Never try to lift heavy drivelines or differentials without proper lifting equipment and specialized jacks.  Always wear OSHA-approved safety glasses when working on drivelines, differentials, and axle components.

Wear eye protection when your eyes are at risk, such as when you grind, or drill upside down
Keep a fire extinguisher near your working space.
Make sure that all electrical components are switched off when you remove the strap, otherwise a spark may occur, which could cause the battery to explode.
Never trust a jack. Rather buy some sturdy stands and use them whenever you need to crawl underneath the car.
7.  Connect an exhaust gas scavenger system to the vehicle tailpipe when static running, particularly when working in a vehicle inspection pit. It should ventilate to a safe place in the open air – where fume will not be drawn back into the workshop or affect other premises or people nearby. Maintain couplings and flexible connections in good condition to prevent leaks.
