CSR is an evolving concept and a set of practices. There are increasingly more standards and guidelines for companies to follow, but there remain many differences among companies in how sustainability practices are employed and deployed. As a leader and as a student of sustainability, you must learn to sort, prioritize, and negotiate among CSR desires and needs in order to balance these with what is possible and ethical.


You will create a case study on an organization that is listed in the 2018 Fortune 500 Global Index that addresses the following:



  • Create a description of your organization that provides the reader with its Fortune rank, type of industry, its Global Standard Industrial Classification (GSIC), CEO name, number of employees, headquarters, number of offices globally, reported sales and organization performance over the last fiscal year (including data from Standard Poor's and one other source).

  • Evaluate the organization's CSR position. Incorporate evidence of its compliance with or violation of CSR principles, including information from the organization's website and two sources external to the company. (Note: These two external sources are not considered part of the five scholarly sources that are required for this assignment.). Incorporate the ranking of the organization's CSR and sustainability practices from at least two rating sources, including one non-profit or NGO source. (Note: These two rating sources are not considered part of the five scholarly sources that are required for this assignment.)

  • Evaluate the organization's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, using the SWOT model, relative to its CSR and sustainability performance.

  • Devise a concluding plan that provides your opinion of the organization's overall level of social responsibility.

Your well-written paper must adhere to the following parameters:



  • 8-10 pages in length, not including the title and reference pages

According to the financial reports and other performance reports published by the company, the organizational performance of the company can be summarized in this particular section. The revenue of the company was the largest in 2020 which amounted up to $274.51 billion. The operating income of the company was $66.288 billion as of 2020 (Apple Inc, 2021). The net income was $57.411 billion as of 2020. The total assets of the company are $323.888 billion as of 2020. And the Total equity of the company was $65.339 billion as of 2020.
Corporate Social Responsibility Position
Apple Incorporation has reluctantly uploaded in its websites that the corporation is committed to the highest standard of performing social responsibility along with its wide range of supply chain that is present in almost every corner of the world. They have also rejected the aspect that the corporation is insisting the suppliers provide safe working conditions to all the employees by treating the workers with respect and dignity and utilizing the manufacturing processes that are environmentally responsible (Zhang et al., 2020). So it is clear from their acclamation on their official website that the action of the organization will contemplate and demonstrate the commitment that is effectively viable with the fact that the company is contemplating socially responsible measures.
However, while analyzing the similar context with that of the realistic measures it can be contemplated that the commitments that are made on the website might be true but they are effective shreds of evidence which put the question that creates a gap between the statement that the company has committed on its website and the aspects that are reflected by the execution of programs in the industry.
The most effective and striking aspect of this particular scenario can be contemplated by the investigation at Foxconn which is a big supplier of Apple Incorporation. According to the reports of the Fair Labor Association, it was projected that the company expert's excessive overtime and their associated problems with overtime compensation. It was also mentioned in the report about several health and safety risks and the significant communication gaps that lead to a widespread sense of unsafe working conditions for the workers in the organization. This is one of the serious issues concerning the corporate social responsibility of Apple since they claim that they go beyond the industry standards in their manufacturing process. From the environmental point of view, the organization projects it to be one of the transparent organizations and have effective measures and commitment that focuses on reducing the environmental impact on its products.
