Nurse as a Leader
According to me, the role of a nurse as a leader is not only to maintain the quality of the care given to the patients, but also to adapt and adjust to the new environmental situations of the hospital by her leadership skills. Her role should also include making the decisions in a crisis and support the nurse’s team she is responsible for. I feel that the nurse as a leader must also set goals and limit time for a patient’s positive outcome with proper and timely treatment.
The nurse as a leader must set some achievable goals even for herself to develop in the sectors of personality, career and planning of activities performed by them. Continuous learning and gathering knowledge about the nursing techniques will help them grow their skills and sustain in the working environment of the healthcare industry.
My View
Yes, my description has changed after gathering proper knowledge about the leadership qualities a nurse leader must possess. The nurses are not only responsible for providing quality health care and follow the breach of contract rules, but also have a vast responsibility to follow in the healthcare industry. The must possess a moral value and value the feedbacks of all the staffs.
The maintenance of a healthy workplace environment must be looked after by them, which will create an interest for the staffs to work in the industry. The motivational behaviour of the nurse is an important aspect, which I felt to be incorporated in the leadership quality of the leader nurse and it will help in retention of the staff nurses in any crisis. Lastly, I feel the role of the nurse leader must be unbiased in providing duties and maintain relations with the staffs.
