1. Consider the decay of the Δ Baryon into a pi meson and a nucleon
a. Determine whether parity i
s conserved, and show why or why not
Solution
Delta Baryon = pi meson + a Neucleon
As we know that parity of
Delta Baryon = Even Parity
Pi meson = Odd parity
A neucleon = Odd Parity
Since
Odd parity x Odd Parity = Even Parity = R.H.S = L.H.S hence in decay of delta baryon parity is conserved.
b. What are the spins and isospins of all of the possible particles in the initial and final states?
