It supports students in developing their skills in research and knowledge of hospitality venue planning. Students will apply research to validate a current hospitality venue’s feasibility and determine planning and design outcomes. Instructions: Students are required to visit and collect information on two (2) different types of hospitality venues, including restaurants, coffee shops, hotels, nightclubs, and shopping centre food courts. You will then develop a report to assess the feasibility of the two different venue types based on their physical planning and design aspects. The Sydney house opera located at the bay of Sydney harbor. It established in 1973 as a part of Performing Art Centre. It is symbol of Australia and fine example of modern architecture. Danish architect Jorn Utzon, following an international architectural competition in 1957, designed it. The Sydney opera house has a number of restaurants, with Bennelong being the most reputed. It is one of the busiest performing arts centres in the world—hosting over 1,500 performances each year attended by some 1.2 million people.
There is a spectacular bar, The Opera Bar, which is one of the best venues to take in the harbor of an afternoon with friends. The building has been indulged in early controversies but its long-term success and popularity inspires many architectures. The architectural designs have complex geometrical incorporation, which made with the help of computer aided design machine. In 2007, UNESCO inscribed it in the World Heritage List. The building shows multiple strands of the architectural design, creativity and structural design.
It is one of the accomplished masterpieces of human creativity. It is not amazing human made discovery of 20 th century but one of the best example of human kind. It was built on Bennelong Point adjacent to Jon Bradfield’s Sydney Harbour Bridge where it would be visible from all sides. The work on Sydney opera started in the year 1959. In 1966, it was ideal position for the architects. This is because of two big reasons, it has beautiful scenes and there is no complex programming.
As stated by Dwyer (2016), at the centre of Utzon’s distinctive design, it has a set of the interlocked shells, which is the most challenging for the engineers. The aim of the construction of the Opera House was to create an iconic building, which could define Sydney, and the unique white sail design has become one of the most famous performing arts buildings globally due to its design. Every shell used to make opera centre made up of pre-cast concrete segment of rib rising to the ridge beam.
They all held together with 350 km of tensioned steel cable. The shell was originally design as parabolas, because of which engineer solution cannot be found. There is a series of concrete ribs that support around 2200 pre-cast concrete roof panel, which are in turn face with over one million tiles. There are mainly two types of tiles used in Sydney Opera House; one is matte cream and glossy white.
