As an organisation performs, based on the collective efforts of individuals, communication and it
s related aspects play important roles, as they regulate the degree of interaction, collaboration, complement and coordination of the taskforces. In the current essay, I have introduced the topic, followed by a section that offers knowledge about the significance of ten relevant concepts of communication and a literary discussion of one of the most relevant concepts. Then I presented two selective concepts for future aspiration followed by an aptly justified conclusion. The thesis of this essay is to present an in-depth assessment of multiple aspects, which aims at providing readers as well as the learners the ability to consider communication as a tool for their career-oriented goals, which initiates from the section henceforth.
In the ten weeks of work activities, the weekly concepts that proved to be the most useful for my future career goals are verbal communication, non-verbal communication, active listening, message composition, motivation to communicate, graphical representation, encoding of messages, Information Communication Technology (ICT), use of language and reasoning. Verbal Communication is one of the prime concepts of organisational communication. The verbal communication, as mentioned by Redeker, Kessler and Kipper (2019), is the most widely used communication mode in the human society and employees of organisations find it easy to comprehend and communicate. The verbal communication will be helpful for establishing formal type business communications among the managers and the employees of the organisation, making managers impose better control over taskforces.
Non-verbal communication, in comparison to the verbal communication, is less commonly used professionally, yet is considered one of the major concepts of communication. In cases, where the verbal communication is not effective for communication establishing, as seen in the cases of noisy environment, I can use non-verbal communication such as quick gesture response or emotional aspects that cannot be accessed through verbal communication, which from the business perspective will help me in responding faster and generate efficient performance of the workforces. As opined by Passera, Kankaanranta and Louhiala-Salminen (2017), the most common and effective non-verbal communication methods include hand gestures, use of signs, and observation of body language. Active Listening helps in forming proper communication. Considering the purpose of business, active listening will make the degree of deviation of data forwarding less, making the scope of error in business less. As mentioned by Cox (2019), as verbal communication method, such as training, teaching and guiding are administered, it becomes important that the intended audience is listening to the forwarded information actively, namely termed as active listening. For me, active listening could be effective for counselling sessions, which also contributes in communication refinement.
Message Composition is a significant concept of communication. As elaborated by Aparicio, Oliveira, Bacao and Painho (2019), message composition is important as the expressed contents of the message reach employees and the reaction of the employees are affected. If it is seen from the business perspective, the message composition would help in document the data forwarded for future references and critical evaluation processes. Motivation to Communicate is important for establishing organisational communication. The motivation to communicate, as stated by Adiguzela (2019), comes from the significance the organisational management expects to achieve from proper communication. It would help me focus on increasing communication level of employees so that the internal communication level improves.
Graphical Representation is a type of non-verbal communication process, where instead of texted or audio information; I can use visually appealing contents to communicate with the employees of an organisation, which will make the organisational taskforces adhere to the information better, developing better performance. As stated by Brown (2015), graphical representation of information, guidance and directives are easily comprehended by intended audiences as the visuals does not require texted rules that requires time to memorise, logic to interpret and sincerity to base decision upon. I can use encoding of Messages for data forwarding and sharing, determining my degree of...
