Organization Background
The Pampered Pets Palace or PPP is a shelter home for dogs and cats. They provide a boarding kennel for dogs and cats. Mr Pavlov and Mrs Norris are the owners of this kennel and it is located in Western suburbs of Brisbane. The clients board
their pets in this kennel. The kennel has the capacity of 50 cats, 100 single dogs and 25 two-dog dog runs. They provide 7 weeks service. Both the owners visit the kennel daily. According to the current report, the kennel has also completed 30 luxury units. Along with the boarding of pets, they also provide services like grooming, flea treatments etc. There are other employees also in the kennel along with a full-time receptionist, Phyllis.
The kennel currently follows a manual booking process. It manages a book for the client’s information and booking. The book contains information about the kennel and animal for each day. But this method is not convenient for them. They find it very difficult during the peak season. Entering the complete data manually consumes a lot of time. The data is not accurate and it also contains error. They start the card on the arrival of a client. All the information about the stay of pet and the services provided to him is kept on the card. And at the time of closing, this card is used as the final bill. But the information on this card can be altered later or modifier which makes it unreliable. The PPP follows a manual process which is outdated, time consuming and contains many flaws. According to the current scenario, the client arrives and makes a booking for the pet. The staff member record data about the client and pet like name, address, drop date, pick up date, phone number, email address etc. But this information may not be right.
This process creates problems like the pets which are booked, never turned up. Manually, it is difficult to check for the availability of kennels. The pets arrive with a booking number but there is no kennel to keep them which gives a bad impression to the clients. Few pets were booked with some additional service but due to the confusion they are not getting any. Services are getting mixed with the pets.
All this information about the PPP is provided by the case study. Now the task is to design a new automated process which helps the owner to keep the flow of operations at ease without any errors.
