Case Study 1
Q.1
We know climate is the integrated average of daily weather. Climate changes, not in a day, it takes a long time to change but in the process of its change we have to face a lot of aftermaths. India is an extensive country and there is a lot of abundance in Indian climate and owing to that a huge number of populations suffer in many ways due to climate change. These may be divided into these following parts
· Effect on water - Drought is a big problem which is caused by less procurement of snow
. Deficiency of water affects the production of crops and as well as the outcome of industry.
· Effect on food-when the production of crops and harvests are less consequently the production of its derivatives is also less which causes scarcity.
· Effect on health- change in climate has a huge impact in health issues. Lots of people suffer from several diseases.
· Effect on eco system-on account of change in climate modification happens in habitats and for that the balance in eco system gets unstable.
Q.2
The causes of climate change in India can be divided into two parts. The parts are subsequent.
• Natural causes- there are a lot of natural causes of Climate Change in India. They are as follows-
1. Continental drift -the continents appears to be drafted across the ocean beds which causes change in climate
2. Ocean current- naturally ocean currents can move into directions which are horizontally and vertically but somehow if the direction of the ocean currents changes it definitely causes change in climate.
3. Earth tilt - we know the axis of rotation of our planet is tilted 23.5 degrees from the orbit of sun but it changes and causes change in climate.
4. Volcanoes: volcanoes erupt a lot of sulphur and dust in the air and that causes change in climate
• Human made causes- humans are the main culprits of change in climate. We knowingly do several things that cause change in our climate. These causes are as follows-
1. Green house effect- greenhouse effect is the most important effect which causes global warming and we know carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane are some of harmful greenhouse gases that directly causes change in climate.
2. Electricity- electricity is produced by the power plants and in this power plants the uses of the fossil fuel are used which is pollutant (THE WORLD BANK, 2017).
3. Transport pollution- this is the most common source of pollutants and these led climates to change.
Q.3
Indian population has to face a lot of consequences due to the change in climate in their daily life. The consequences are as follows-
1. Increase in heat- the weather is getting warmed day by day due to Extreme pollution and it affects on increase in temperature and which has significant impact on agriculture.
2. Change in pattern of rainfall- due to the Crowning effect of pollution and global warming we can see at clear change in rainfall pattern in India. The duration of monsoon is getting inconsiderable gradually.
3. Water level abridgment- India is agriculture fed country and for that we are highly dependent on water resources. Sadly, the water level is derogatory nowadays and we have already seen the consequences in South India and it is going to be a very worthy concern in upcoming future.
4. Sea level rise- due to the melting of glaciers the coastal cities are going to face a huge problem in upcoming future. Seawater encroachment is a very big effect of climate change.
5. Food security- we know production and demand works in a chain that's why if production is less, the demand will be high and price rise of essential commodities will happen.
6. Health issues- climate change causes a lot of health problems such as malaria, dengue and other vector transmitted diseases.
Q.4
It is an altercation whether India can deal with climate change or not. The government are performing fair duties to alleviate the effects of climate change. I will like to add some points in favour and in opposition.
· In- favour- Indian government has taken several steps to prevent the effects of climate change. These are following
1. National solar mission-The government aims to use the solar energy for electricity in state of the fuel fossils so that the pollution can be diminished.
2. National mission on sustainable habitats- the NAPCC tries to conserve existing energy and arranges social awareness on using polluting motorcycles and also accentuating waste management
3. Green India mission- The government of India arranged tree plantation programmes in several areas to impede temperature rise.
4. National mission on spreading knowledge- government of India are trying to automate consciousness amongst people about climate change and its consequences.
• In opposition- There are a lot of reasons which are resisting India to overcome these problems. These are as follows-
1. Huge population-In this kind of a huge population it is hard to examine everyone’s problem and fix it.
2. Illiteracy- illiteracy is a vast problem in India that's why it is tough to spread consciousness about the upshot.
3. Political issues- politics is a colossal problem in India that causes metamorphosis in people and corruption happens.
4. Poverty- Being in a third world country we can say poverty is a wistful issue to prevent effects of climate change.
