5.1-WDD110-assignment - Final - Sketches When you have completed the lab please save your three files to a compressed folder and use the naming convention 5.1-WDD110-lastname for the folder. 1) Before you begin the sketching phase of your final, start to preplan by doing the following: a) Choosing a movie to redesign or a movie that is completely fictitious. b) Save a version of the original poster if there is one and use it for reference or inspiration. c) Research or reference anything else you need to understand the movie and the direction you’d like to take with the poster. 2) Sketching Process: a) Have three different sketches made what your poster’s layout might look like. b) Sketches can be made on paper and scanned for use in Photoshop or can be drawn directly on canvas. c) We’ll choose in class which design looks to be the strongest and continue your design process from there. 3) Remember to make sure your sketches are specific enough to account for the posters needs such as: a) Title b) Tagline or slogan c) Pertinent imagery d) When its released e) Who is in it 4) Once you have completed the sketches, follow the submission guidelines above. Remember to save copies for yourself as we will be sharing our work in class. 5.2-WDD110-assignment: Final - Fonts When you have completed the lab please save your file with the naming convention 5.2-WDD110-lastname.jpg and upload via MLP. 1) While sketches are being critiqued and poster layouts debated, we’re now at a stage where we should be picking our fonts. a. NOTE: You must use a different type of font than what has been branded by that film or franchise, remember that this is a total redesign. 2) Choose and collect the following to use as content for your poster: a. Choose Font-families, sizes and styles. i. Font 1: More decorative for the movie title and/or tagline. ii. Font 2: A more basic, easy to read font for the remaining textual content. b. Collect a number of online/personal images or graphics for use in your poster. 3) Once your choices have been made, create and submit a page where you list all textual content you intend to show on the poster. Said text will content the appropriate fonts you’ve chosen. 4) When complete follow the submission guidelines above. 5.3-WDD110-assignment: Final – Initial Composition When you have completed the lab please save your file with the naming convention 5.3-WDD110-lastname.jpg and upload via MLP. 1) At this stage in your work your sketch critiques are done. You’ve chosen what fonts to use on your poster as well as what visual assets you’ll need (actors, backgrounds, textures, etc.). 2) For this assignment you’ll be turning in your poster’s current iteration. Look to the following for things that can make up that initial composition: a. Using the final sketch begin planned layout. b. Placement of textual content. c. Make text standout from the surrounding design colors. d. Use proper images for graphical portion of the poster. e. Use proper color and value to emphasize elements of your poster. 3) Follow submission guidelines above. WEB101 – Lab 01 (15 pts) WDD110-Final WDD110-Final – Final: Designing a Movie Poster Objective: Produce desired design utilizing all Photoshop tools seen in this class. Directions: Please follow the questions/statements down below in order to complete the final. Since the project has stages, each assignment in week 5 represents a ‘stage’ through the process of completing your final. Submission Guidelines: When you have completed the project make sure you have all stages saved under each week 5 assignment. When your final is complete, save the final version with the naming convention: “WDD110-Final-lastname” before turning in via MLP. The PSD(s) will be used to showcase your work in class. The last day of class will require a live presentation for the class, displaying your work and discussing: i. A Project Summary ii. What you think work. iii. What was the most challenging aspect of the final? iv. If not complete, what will you be adding to finish the final? b. If you are unable to attend a live presentation you may do two of the following: i. Recorded Presentation: Turn in an MP4 file with your final project that features you doing a presentation. ii. Essay: Along with your final project, please turn in a 2-page summary of your work and addressing the points from your presentation. 9.
