By-pass Road Design Requirements • Design a road to by-pass 8th Avenue and avoid the subdivision. • At the completion of your final drawing you will have a road with a corridor and all associated tables including Profile, Sections at 50-foot intervals and Quantities Tables. Design Requirements - Alignment • Start the by-pass road with an intersection point at station 5+00 on 8th Avenue. The intersection should be approximately perpendicular to 8th Avenue and proceed north. • End the by-pass road with an intersection point at Station 20+00 on 8th Avenue. Make the intersection approximately perpendicular to 8th Avenue at that point. Create the Alignment from a Polyline Start Finish Example Profile Design Requirements - Assembly • Create a road assembly with two 14 foot lanes, curb, a 5 foot sidewalk on both sides with a 5 foot buffer on either side of the sidewalk. 30 mph design speed. • Daylight into the existing surface. • Use a -2% slope for the lane, a -4% slope for the curb and a +2% slope for the sidewalk with a 5-foot buffer on either side of the sidewalk. Use a 4:1 slope for the daylight. • Make the Pave 1 thickness 5 inches, the Base thickness 6 inches, and the Subbase thickness 1 foot. Design Requirements – Material Lists • Set up material lists (on the sample lines properties page) for the cut and fill and the pavement quantities (Pave 1, Base 1, and Subbase 1). • Create quantities tables for the cut and fill and the pavement quantities. Include the following in your assignment report. • Submit your final drawing on line.
