Learning about various organisational change models and theories and their strengths and weaknesses is essential in order to make an informed decision which model to choose. This knowledge is essential in order to achieve a successful implementation of the change process on time and budget, know how to deal with resistance to change, meet stakeholders’ expectations and being able to evaluate the change outcomes. Successful leadership of the organisation during the change process will strengthen the organisational competitive position in the marketplace, increase its market share, and contribute to your own branding as a successful change manager. This will contribute to strengthening your position in the workplace and among your co-workers and enhances your career advancement. Instructions In this assignment, you are required to engage with other students via Forums related to Organisational Change processes, models, and concepts, covered in the unit. Each week for the first 4 weeks in the study period, your lecturer will post question(s) in the Assessment 1 Discussion Forums, separately for each workshop. You should respond to the questions (i.e. make an initial post) each week and then respond to the posts of other students Regular engagement in the discussion forums is an important component of this assessment. This is because the purpose of this assessment task is that you gain a deeper understanding of the change management processes, models and concepts through ongoing analysis, dialogue, and reflection with other students. Your initial posts are important and your responses and questions to other students are just as important. Process for completing the assignment 1. In weeks (1 – 4) of the semester, you will be introduced to various change processes, models, and concepts. You need to research, read about these models so you can familiarize, learn, understand, and enhance your knowledge about the change management process. Make notes of what you read and understand about each component of the change process and list the references or the sources that you are reading. 2. Post your response to the weekly question in the Assessment Discussion Forum using what you have gained from the research step one above to support your posts, responses and replies (150 words for each initial posting or response, references are not counted towards the word limit). You are unable to see other students’ postings before you make your initial post. Allow one hour between your initial posting and being able to see other posts for the system to recognise your submission and allow you access to other student submission. 3. Read other students posts and responses and extend the discussion and dialogue by posting at least one response per week to another student with whom you need to engage with their posting using knowledge gained in step one above in order to make meaningful contributions to the Forum Discussions (150 words for each response). 4. Listen to the recorded Video about AT1 and make sure you understand the Rubric related to AT1 prior to finalising your submission of this assignment. 5. Choose your best three initial posts and your best three responses to other students from the Discussion Forum activities from weeks 1-4 (one initial post and response from each week) and collate into a Word document to be copied and paste in Assessment 1. These 6 posts should total 900 words max (references do not count toward the word limit). 3 | P a g e Global Ethical Practical 6. Furthermore, you are required to write a 300-350 words reflection on how you are going to utilise the knowledge learned from the selected posts (initial and response) when managing change process. Your initial posts are important and your responses and questions to other students are just as important as the foundation to your reflection. 7. You need to incorporate at least 5 current resources post 2016 including three Academic Journals in addition to two textbooks in your initial posts and responses for weeks 1-4. Older resources can be used once you satisfied the 5 current resources. In total, 10 references are required. Steps 1-3 above will be handy when compiling the reference list in your submission of assessment 1. Note that sources from the web as individual columns or websites are not acceptable. Introduction
Change management is a process of bringing change in the organization. The process brings possible changes with the new opportunities and ways
to being development in the organization. The proper use of change management theories and models can be fruitful for the organization. The report will analyse the different perspective to understand the necessity of change management.
Reflection
The posts have discussed various change management models that can be applied in an organization and how one model is different from the other one. In the discussion, three different change models and how they can perform in an organizational behaviour have been discussed. Each week, the discussions have taken place according to the definition and purposes of the change management plan (Riivari & Lämsä 2019). The first week, the students have talked about the Life Cycle Theory that represents small but significant changes that take place in an organization. The response of the post has been reviewed positively and the students have agreed with the Life Cycle model that have made quite significant changes in many organizations.
The second week, the students have discussed Kotter’s 8 stage model that is one of the fundamental and important models of change management. The model makes potential changes that are significant and it works quite effectively in an organization (Galli 2018). The application of the model motivates and engages the employees and changes the strategies for the development of the organization. The work process, goals, communication techniques, tools and understanding of the process of work change in the change management programme. But at the same time, the posts have not failed t mention that the model is time consuming and can only be applicable for a major change procedure (Szarek 2017).
The discussion of third week have talked about the questions that can be asked for the application of change models and it has declared the possible questions of the change management that the manager can ask. The possible change items and structure have also discussed with proper references. Important legal and fundamental factors have also been discussed to support the theories (Blomqvist 2017). And finally in the fourth week, the theory of McKinsey’s 7S Framework and Weisbord’s theory have been analysed. In this model, the organization go through severe changes that are possible for the huge resources of the organization (Pollack & Pollack 2015). The time-consuming model has been analysed by assessing the main points and analysing the strengths and weaknesses.
