Is there anything covered in the readings for this week that would help you in the next six months at work? One of the main compotes of a great dining experience has to do with emotions. Many restaurants spend time and money into creating an atmosphere that is open and friendly. A server can either make or break a dining experience, often leading to high-stress levels between staff. Often where there is high stress there are also high emotions. Stress "[stems] from emotions that are being ignored, denied, misunderstood, suppressed, or just poorly handled".Working in the hospitality industry, I found that emotions are hardly ever dealt with. They are stuffed down as far as they can be and stay there until it bursts. It is used as drive, to reach that high standard we are held too. Is there anything covered in the readings for this week that would help you in the next six months at work? Within the next six months, there are a couple of things I think would help me at work would be to learn to pause, control my thought and to help others. I think learning to take that minute to think before reacting would help me from responding harshly in heated moments. Controlling my thoughts would be the next thing I would work on because working in high demand, a high pace I can get tied up in my head and let my emotions get off the better. I need to learn to control thoughts because I do benefit from criticism but the delivery and the usefulness of criticism can make or break night and it shouldn't. Lastly, the thing that ould help me in work would be helping others, and with this one, I do not mean the peoples I like help. I want to work on helping people that I may not think to deserve the help and I say this as a way of working on forgiving and forgetting. How about tomorrow or next week? The main one to work on is learning to pause. This one will have the biggest impact on my work and helping control my emotions and stress levels. Being the person that I am I tend to be hot-headed, and it has been and will continue to be a work in progress. When I pause and give myself a chance to reevaluate the situation, I tend to react better. How can you work to develop your emotional intelligence skills to make you more valuable in the workforce? Working on keeping my emotions in check, and understanding where they are coming will help keep my stress level down. Valuable employees are one that can stay calm and composed in stressful situations. Empathy is the other valuable skill I would develop, I have a hard choice to want to understand where someone coming from, and I would more valuable as an employee if I had that skill. Discussion 2 Farah Dozier Handling emotions is an essential aspect of the workplace. It operates as a measure of professionalism. Individuals should be in touch with their feelings and avoid suppressing them. However, they should learn how to manage emotions, especially when working (Ashkanasy, & Dorris, 2017). In my workplace, efforts are put to help employees handle their emotions and balance them concerning the job. The institution sets programs that are intended to motivate workers. Motivation enables employees to avoid workplace stress and stay motivated. It promotes self-confidence and makes them stay focused. The programs are specific to creating intrinsic motivation. It keeps them determined to perform even when they face challenges and also workplace stress. The institution also has sessions that focus on housekeeping and promoting cohesion in the workplace. They touch on the issue of self-regulation and thus help workers in taking responsibility for their actions. It also fosters trust among employees and rational reactions. Is there anything covered in the readings for this week that would help you in the next six months at work? How about tomorrow or next week? The things I have learned this week will help me every day in my workplace. For instance, learning about empathy is vital in daily workplace operations. It touches mostly on dealing with other people and putting considerations on how they feel. It is crucial since it will help consider my emotions and those of others (Serrat, 2017). This lesson will help me from now and even beyond 6months. It will enable me to give critical thinking to issues and people an opposed to just making inconsiderate judgments that are likely to trigger poor emotional reactions. How can you work to develop your emotional intelligence skills to make you more valuable in the workforce? The holistic development of emotional intelligence skills is essential in the workplace. Developing self-awareness through getting feedback on my behavior will be necessary to understand my reactions towards things. I can as well learn on self-regulation by taking responsibility and responding calmly to situations. It will allow me to handle my emotions wisely without affecting others. Considering the feelings of other people will enable me to analyze issues critically. I will also seek intrinsic motivation to perform and meet workplace goals; hence it will allow me to stay positive. Besides, I will work towards attaining practical communication skills and building relationships with others. These strategies will enable me to be comfortable in the workplace while relating well with others (Serrat, 2017). It will make it easy for me to achieve my work set goals.     References Ashkanasy, N. M., & Dorris, A. D. (2017).
