Email: [email protected] Abstract The current study examines the determinants of cross-cultural leadership adjustment (CLA) and explores any potential linkage with performance. CLA adaptions are observed using a sample of leaders from two cultural regions, the United Kingdom and Germanic-Europe, with expatriate experience at a British multinational enterprise (MNE) in seven different countries, including non-European nations. Using data from a single company in multiple regions helps to isolate the firm, industry and regional effects. We adopted mixed method approach to address the question on what mode of adjustment leads to better performance and the antecedents of CLA which leads to better work-performance. The results indicated that most expatriate leaders used the exploration mode of adjustment, under which both they and subordinates made substantial behavioral adaptations. This mode of adjustment addressing cultural dif- ferences had a positive impact on work-performance along with replication mode. Additional antecedents here, such as differences

Introduction
The case study aims to explore the impact of cross-culture as well as cros
s-cultural leadership on the performance of business organisations. The case study has been based on the leaders of two different cultural locations, namely the United Kingdom and the Germanic-Europe. In addition to the above-mentioned factors, there are other factors such as experiences associated with employees working outside their origin country, such as at a British multinational enterprise in both developed and developing countries. The determinants of cross-cultural adaptation are also considered in the given case study. The outcomes of the case study indicate that most of the managerial leaders use an exploratory mode of adjustment as it results in better workplace performance. Through the analysis, the best way of cross-cultural adaptation will be determined keeping in mind the theories and concepts of cross-cultural leadership.
Background
The research case study explores the different factors that are intricately linked with the notion of cross-cultural adaptation. In this regard, only one organisation has been brought to focus in this research article. The similar problems experienced by the managers of different locations of the same British multinational enterprise have been given close attention. In addition to that, in order to deepen the analysis, the international activities have been restricted to primarily two locations, namely Britain and Germany. According to Rao‐Nicholson, Carr and Smith (2020), through the research methodology of the case study that has been given, it has been found that the Exploratory mode of cross-cultural adaptation is one of the most used forms of cross-cultural leadership adjustment. It is especially observed when taken from the point of view of an MNC operating in different geographical locations.
Course Topics
Three theories can be discussed in the regard of cross-cultural leadership. They are as follows:
Situational Leadership Theory
Situational Leadership Theory is one theory that specifically deals with the different aspects of cross-cultural leadership. In this particular leadership theory, it has been stated that the leaders ought to adjust their leadership style. This is based on the relevant maturity oriented to a particular task in the case of the followers or the employees. To put it more simply, if the employees are at a lower task maturity, in that case, the employer or the leader needs to be more instructive.
Culturally Endorsed Implicit Theories of Leadership
Another theory that addresses cross-cultural leadership adjustment is culturally endorsed implicit theories of leadership. According to the tenets of this theory, it is said that the leadership style of the employers or leaders should be dependent and guided by the culture of the subordinates (Carter, Seely, Dagosta, DeChurch and Zaccaro, 2015).
WRT Theory
The WRT theory, according to Tsai, Carr, Qiao and Supprakit (2019), however states that individuals tend to change their...
