1) Differentiate concepts of descriptive and inferential statistics
The difference
between the descriptive and inferential statistics is a major one. In case of descriptive statistics one takes a large size data and then reduce them down to meaningful summary values such as mean, standard deviation, skewness etc. The whole process involves reducing the sample data to singular values that represent the data.
In inferential statistics, data is taken from a sample and then one makes inferences about the larger population from which the sample is drawn. So, in this case the sample needs to be carefully chosen so that the inferences that are made to the larger population come close to the real picture.
