ECE 425/821: Solid State Power Conversion/Advanced Power Electronics and Applications Michigan State University Homework Assignment #5 Name: Your name 1. A buck converter and its small-signal models are given below: (a) Find state-space representations of buck converter in switch positions 1 and 2 (refer to lecture 9 slide 31-32 – hint: use capacitor voltage (vc) and inductor current (iL) as state vector, input voltage is the only input variable, and capacitor voltage is the only output variable). (b) Find the averaged state-space representation of buck converter (refer to lecture 9 slide 33). (c) Use the averaged state-space representation, find the steady-state voltage ratio (refer to lecture 9 slide 34). (d) Use the above equivalent small-signal model to find the control-to-output transfer function (L = 300 uH, C = 25 uF, R = 15, Vg = 20 V, Vout = 5V). (e) Use given MATLAB code (ss_tf.m), extract the transfer function and compare with the (d) and show the bode plot. (f) Identify the resonance frequency from the bode plot and compare it with calculated resonance frequency of LC filter.
