The event what did you say: How accents challenge our hearing? Is focused on older people who face problem in hearing and brained function due to ageing. This is a program which helps to teach non-verbal communication to the older people who face such problem. It is a one-hour session starting from 1 pm to 2 pm on Wednesday on 2ndMay 2018.The program is going to be organised in the Customs House Library, Sydney(Watson 2018). The program is going to be organised by the City of Sydney Library(cityofsydney, 2017). It holds the program for improvement of hearing, speech when the person’s age increases. This program will hold experts like Sonya Prasad, Simone Simonetti and The Multisensory Communication research program. Sonya Prasad is doing PhD, and her major focus is to understand the factors that help to understand the problem in speech. Simone Simonetti is a candidate of PhD who is focusing on the various emotions of the different age groups. The Multisensory Communication researchers on the senses which help for the communication. The program discusses how to help all the older people who face difficulties in the process of ageing. It has a panel of experts who help to improve non-verbal skills and understand the process of ageing and helps to adapt to the ageing process. The aims and objectives of this program are – · Help those people who are going through the process of ageing · Teach strategies to manage various impacts that come from ageing · Help older people in their future paths. This program is for the older people who face problems during ageing. The ageing is the process of getting older with age(ScienceDirect 2015). Everyone goes throughthis phase,and along with this, they face some problems like social, emotional and physical challenges. The program what did you say: How accents challenge our hearing? Is a program which is specially designed for the older people to learn and accept their challenges and teach them with the strategies to overcome the difficulties they face in ageing. The target of this program is the older people. The program holds sessions for the older people and helps them to be able to adapt to the change in their ages. Ageing brings many changes in one’s life and makes them live a normal life difficult. Thus, this program is a helpful series which helps them to find strategies, learn techniques to adaptto the change and it is free of cost. The aim and objectives of the program are relatedto the program designed. The aim is to provide help to the older people and let older people learn about the ageing,and it provides them with the techniques. The program holds experts like PhD candidate, doing PhD and research program whose focus is on the older people and help them to achieve better in their career. Thus, the program that is organised meets aims and objectives of the program elements. IMPACT The program organised for the older people is for them to accept and learn the new techniques to overcome the challenges of ageing. This program has experts in this field who can share their knowledge, ideas about ageing and help those who are facing a problem like cognition changes, variability in speech and recognising emotions. These problems occur while ageing thus, the program is focused on solving these issues and direct solutions and teach to help them adaptto new learnings. The positive impact of this program is that the people with such problem will be able to understand the emotions like happiness from voices, improve the communication and improve the functioning of the brain. The program thus will have a social impact in the community of the older people helping them to be able to communicate with others and help them to adaptto the challenges they used to face. The negative impact of this program can be that the older people may not understand the problems and may find full of information and solutions which they may not be able to keep up with causing more damage to their brain. Evaluation To assess/ evaluate the event’s success in achieving the aims and objectives, I will use the report from the organisers and the survey from the audience(Mathers, Fox, & Hunn, 2018). The report of the organiser will help to know how the program was, what its problems were and how the audience took the program. This information can be gathered from the organiserswho will help us to evaluate and assess the success or failure of the event. If the number of the audience were below targeted and if the audience were not satisfied with the program then it shows that the program didn’t achieve its target illustrating the failure of the program. To find the organisers report true, audience survey can be done. The surveying of the audience includes certain questions. The questions must be asked to the audience to match it with the organiser’s report. The things that should be included in the survey can be- Questions: Questions should be included in the survey which should reveal the satisfaction of the audience from attending the session. This will help us to know about the audience point of view which in turn let us know about the fulfilment of the aims and objectives of the program(Quirk, Olver, Hammond, & Davies, 2017). Type of audience: While taking the survey, the audience must be chosen properly so that we can measure the audience satisfaction from the program and help to know about the success of the event. Selection of the wrong audience will lead to wrong judgment of the program thus, for this we need to choose the older audience facing the ageing problem and the one who attended it. Time: The time for the survey should be after the program ends. The longer time will lead tothe problem to find the audience of that particular program who attended it. The survey can be analysed based on the level of satisfaction of the audience. If the feedback from the audience is good then it gives us an idea of the success of the event. Similarly, if the audience didn’t like the program,they will provide us with the negative feedback. Similarly, the organiser's report will help to know about the success or failure of the event. Thus, these two processes will help to assess the program’s result in meeting the aims and objectives of the program. For assessing the event’s impacts in the host community, the process that can be used is- Observation Observation is the process that can be used to evaluate the impact on the host community. The older people who were brought should be observed after some days of the program to see the changes in them to identify the impacts of the events. Observing them may show positive signs of improvement in hearing, understanding the facial expression and voices then it shows that the event benefited them. From observing and comparing with their past behaviours, it will support us to see the positive or negative impacts(Fredline, Deery, Jago, Fredline, & O ’connor, 2015) Survey Questions for organizers · How satisfied are you with this event? · Do you think you can fulfill event’s aims and objectives? · What measures do you feel is most significant when picking location of event? · Are you satisfied with the financial amount collected? · What is your expectation for older people’s participation? · Is working in team or independent worker is more significant as an event organizer?
