Post-project reviews are a most important, but often neglected, element of the project management activity. The purpose is not only to define the performance of the project against its objectives, but also to assist in the recording of knowledge for future projects. Additionally, as well as the performance of the project, reviews also focus on the delivery of benefits to the business/customer.


Your assignment brief for this module is to perform a Post Project Review (PPR) for a project with which you have recently been involved. This need not be a major project, but you should focus on one where you can assess the performance and benefits of a project against the stated objectives. You should address the following issues in your report:



  • Project performance - compare achievements against the plan.

  • Administrative performance - review administrative practices within the organization, and recommend changes (if necessary).

  • Organizational structure - recommendations for changes to structure.

  • Team performance - report on the effectiveness of the team.

  • Techniques of project management - review the methods used for estimating, planning and cost control.

  • Tools and technology - evaluate the application and effectiveness of tools used.

  • Benefits to the organization and customer - compare against the plan.


You should also report on the knowledge retention that will be passed on to other projects, and prepare a comprehensive conclusion and recommendation list.

Introduction
In this assignment, the project which is taken into consideration is the project which was constituted to overcome the shortages faced by the li
ving facilities during the COVID in the context of staffing as well as the personal protective equipment. These living facilities are the ones whose accounts I manage as an accountant. The main focus of the project is to overcome these shortages along with scheduling them under the budget of the company. Considering the huge number of living facilities my company manages it was very necessary that the budget and expenses would be primarily under control. In this paper, the post-project review regarding the project would be conducted.
Objectives of the Project
The project which I carried on has some specific objectives that need to be met to ensure that the project that was carried on should meet the specific requirements. The prime objectives of the project include-
· Ensuring the purchase of quality tools and equipment’s regarding the requirements concerning the situation.
· To ensure that the staffing needs required in the living facility should also be met.
· To ensure that the meeting of requirements should be following the budget allocated and specified by the company.
· The project should tally well between the quality of the products as well as the expenses.
· Making positive changes in the organizational structure as per the requirements.
· The project should ensure channelizing proper benefits to the company, customers as well as the employees working there.
Project Performance
The project performance is set to imply the overall observations that were outlined after the completion of the project. It specifies the result that is obtained after the completion of the project. The positive performance indicates that the project has met its specified goals while the negative performance indicates that the project objectives were not met (Akeem, 2017).
Achievements against the Plan
Comparing achievements against the plan is one of the most influential ways to judge and specify the performance regarding the project.
Tools and Equipment- The major plan was to buy quality tools and equipment that would ensure safety in the COVID situation in the living facilities and the achievement was much more than what was expected as the best quality equipment and tools were channelized that ensures superior protection.
Staffing Needs- the plan was to fulfill the staffing needs of the living facilities as there was an immense shortage observed in the context of COVID. As the project came to an end top quality staff were hired for the specified positions.
Budget- the most prominent achievement that would be observed in the context of the project was that the project was able to fulfill its entire requirement within the specified budget. As budget control is the most important measure in the project and the project achieved its goal (Auchter, 2018).
Changes in Organizational Structure- the changes in the organizational structure were yet another aspect related to the project. The project led to a positive change in the organizational structure which was another positive thing to be considered.
Benefits- In the organizations any of the projects that are carried focus foremostly on channelizing the benefits. The project accomplishment could be considered as tremendous as it was able to channelize extensive benefits for the company, customers as well as employees.
Administrative Performance
The administrative practices carried out in the organization specify the set of systems and rules that are taken into consideration that governs the procedure for managing an organization. The administrative practices are considered extremely important in establishing efficiency, consistency, responsibility as well as accountability. The administrative performance of the organization in which I work is commendable as it is well framed though such changes are not required still a little up gradation would be good. The prime practices carried on within the organization include-
Division of Work- the division of work within the organization is very subsequent and the tasks are divided evenly among the employees so that they are aware of their duties and responsibilities.
Authority- the administrative practices are quite clear in the organization as the chain of command function is quite clear the employees are aware of whom to follow and what to consider.
Discipline- in the administrative practices of the organization discipline is the basic and the major thing that needs to be followed. The organization has particularly set policies regarding how standards of behaviors and enforced.
