The COVID 19 has forced the company to redesign a cost-effective network to meet the new online requirements. As a part of the design task force, you are required to come up with a network design proposal. Consider that the company has five departments as per the names Reception, Finance, Sales, IT and Research and Development (R and D). The company requires to have seamless communication with all the departments. You may assume that there are not more than 20 hosts in each department for IP addressing design requirements. Formative Assignment 1 The report should include the following contents: 1. Project Scope • The project scope and requirement should have an outline of the project. 2. Project Hardware and Software requirements • Name of the network device with the manufacturer's name, series, model, and ports • Number and type of devices to be used • Type of the media used, e.g., types of cables • Name of the server, PC with specifications such as operating system, RAM, hard disk etc. 3. Approach for the design • Discuss the approach you are taking to designing the network in clear terms. You may discuss IP addressing design requirements. You may use bullet points whenever necessary. • Note that network topology is optional, but you may include it for clarification purposes. [Hint: The use of Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) for different departments could be one of the preferences. However, you may have your approaches with justification/s.] Page 3 of 4 Prepared by: Dr Sanjeeb Shrestha Moderated by: Dr Imran Jokhio March 2022 Marking criteria Section to be included in the report Description of the section Marks Project Scope Outline of the report 5 Project Hardware and Software Requirements & their roles in Establishing the Network List all network devices, hardware, and software requirements for the network design 5+5=10 Approach for the Design Discuss the approach you are taking to design the network along with IP addressing design in clear terms. 1. Scope of the project
The COVID-19 has impacted many organizations across the globe and most of globe and most or the organizations are moving towards the online solutions for handling their operations. The development of new network to the client organization will help in maintaining the functional operations of the client organization. There are different five departments in the client organization, thus, improved communication and data sharing abilities will also be obtained with the help of newly developed networking solution. Maintaining network is a costly solution but use of cost effective devices can help in developing the required network. The online requirements of the client organization will be justified with the implementation of proposed network [Radosavovic et al, 2020]. The improved authentication on the stored databases and implemented communication among the five departments will also be obtained with it.
2. Software and Hardware requirements with description
The development of any network to any client organization makes requirement of identification of possible hardware and software which will be required for maintaining the networking related operations and functionalities of the client organization. As this client organization is making requirement of cost effective solution, thus, it becomes important that low cost hardware with high performance must be selected. The table showing mainly required software applications for maintaining the functionality of...
