Part A focuses on the literature review about network management tools and Part B is about the Nagios and its comparative analysis with available modern tools. Assignment 1- Part A: Network Management Tools For this part of the assignment, write a report on exploring four network management tools by reviewing the literature including research papers and book chapters. This part of the report must: • Explain tools with their features • Discuss network bandwidth analysis using each tool • Provide a recommendation in terms of socio-technical context for a particular tool based on the analysis carried out Assignment 1-Part B: Wireshark Each student will need to work on an assigned set of website and capture packets on their home network. The students are assigned the set of websites based on their MIT ID from Table 1. After capturing packets from the websites the students are required to submit their reports on the Moodle with screen shots of packet capture and the required graphs. The set of websites include a website of a news channel and a website for live streaming. The students are required to capture packets of images and audio from the news channel website and capture packets from the live stream website while streaming for 10 minutes on their home network. The students are required to analyse the network performance for the assigned websites: 1. Time Sequence Graph 2. Throughput Graph 3. Introduction
With this report we will try to understand the working of Wireshark. The Wireshark is an application order tool which is used to handle the packets traveling through the network. With this task we can easil
y find out the source and destination address for the sites traveling over the Internet. For this task the system was connected with the Wi-Fi and why shark was capturing packets Florida news channel. I also used the filter for capturing information like throughput, round Robin trip end time sequence. The WireShark is used to find out any defects in the packet and also can be used as the secure tool to protect network from any type of unauthorized access or overload traffic.
Network Performance
With the bio shock we can analyze the performance of the network. The following is the round Robin graph for the news channel. The Wireshark was running for at least 10 minutes. Two interfaces were used for the given IP address. We just have to select the statistics option and then it allows us to get TCP gateways which provides further options. We just have to select the option from throughput, round robin, time sequence for two further options and it will generate the graph.
Time Sequence Graph
The following is the time sequence graph for the given website. Initially I applied the filter for the given website and this time sequence is generated for the specific IP address. It shows how the sequence number was changing from the first stage to the last stage after the duration of 10 minutes.
Throughput Graph
The throughput graph is used to analyze overall performance of the network. In the following graph we can see the next segment length on the one side and other side shows the time in seconds. The graph shows a huge variation between the throughput of network at different time frames.
Load Distribution
The following text shows the load distribution of the website. We can find out the load distribution off the website by selecting the statistics and then go to the HTTP option. It will further provide us the dropdown in which it will have the load distribution option with other options, and we have to click on that. After this it creates the popup, and we can save it in the format of text file. In the load distribution we can find out the minimum value, maximum value, count, average, burst start, percent, rate and burst rate.
