Introduction
The structure of modern societies has evolved; they now contain people from diverse cultural groups. These communities have their own needs and expectations from governing system, which at times, becomes quite challenging to manage (Broome & Kennedy-Behr, 2020). In the context of linking the practices of applied science to this management, diverse cultural groups have specific trends that are carried out conventionally.
In other words, it can be said that they have particular perceptions, which the experts needs to understand before moving ahead positively with the course of counselling. The following is the analysis of the management of the diverse cultural groups from the applied science perceptive, which is closely associated with the social work practices. A formal recognition of the anticipated support is the core component of this procedure.
Understanding Cultural Diversity
At first, it is significant to overview the theoretical perspective of the structure of diverse cultural groups and the way they are applied to the modern social context. In fact, one of the major sources of having diverse cultural groups in any society is globalisation. The national boundaries are diminished and a global community has been framed over the past two decades (Broom & Kennedy, 2020). People from all nationalities and cultural backgrounds are free to work anywhere in the world, based on their skills and experiences.
As Australia has become educational hub for international students, in the past two decades, a great number of migrant students are seen approaching various universities and colleges. In the same way, a large number of professional workers can be seen working in various public and private sectors here as well. Overall, it forms a society, which has multiple cultures existing at the same time (Vivekananda, McNamara, Chan, Ma & Spinks, 2020).
Additionally, the above scenarios of cultural inclusion also open up the criteria of work for the counsellors who need to be culturally competent; they come across various kinds of people every day with having different types of issues. Understanding culture from their point of view helps developing integrated plan of support. It also assists in knowing precisely the concerns that the clients from diverse cultural groups present to them as well. Being competent for the cultural values of others.
Therefore, it is one of the primary requirements, which they need to understand and apply in their anti-discriminatory practices (Vivekananda et al., 2020). There can be two distinctive models of support for the diverse client groups in this context. The first one is the development of the cultural competency, as understood above and secondly, it can be holistic model of support developed through community participation and active engagement of the client in the process of designing support.
Cultural Competency: Integrated Model of Care
In the context of examining the models of support, the first one belongs to the development of the cultural competency based program. It should be designed to curb the prevention of the issues related to the religious practices, racism and spirituality of the individual as well as the sexual orientation (Mani, 2020). In modern context, anticipated values of support on behalf of the counsellors are supposed to be in accordance to the needs...
