Introduction
Performance measurement is one of the most vital t
ools in the human resource management of the workplace. Performance evaluation is a process through which the efficiency of the employees in an organization is analysed. This provides an opportunity to identify the loopholes in the working procedure of the organization, and further strategies are formed to address those loopholes. In this report a detailed discussion will be made with respect to the process of performance management, the importance of communication and the importance of filing records of employee’s performance along with monitoring of performance will also be done.
Performance Measurement Steps
Performance management and measurement is one of the integral parts of the strategic planning of an organization. Kopia et al. (2017) have discussed that the primary goal of performance evaluation system is to provide an equitable measurement of the employee’s contribution towards the organizational goal and objective. This system helps in producing accurate appraisal documentation to provide protection to employee and the employer, and helps in obtaining a high quality of work and the quantity of work produced. Toklu and Taskin (2017) have discussed that there are five steps for performance evaluation.
· Development of Evaluation Plan: The performance evaluation should be prepared and conducted in a fairly, consistent and in objective manner, which will protect the interest of the employees and protect the organization from legal liability. Most of the details of employees are covered in the evaluation form. These details consist of staff positions, the job performance areas, the job knowledge and skills, the quality of work delivered, the quantity of work delivered, the working habits and the attitude towards the work, management and organizational protocols. This helps the evaluator to rate every employee which will be used further for appraisal. The evaluator must also analyse the employee’s people skills, the manner they communicate and maintain harmony in the organization, team building and problem solving skills and motivate fellow employees to achieve the organizational goals.
