Introduction
Modern world faces critical challenges with respect to sustainability and these changes are expected to become more fundamental in near future. In order to make the societies and their development taking place more sustainable it is essential to consider economic, social and environmental factors. Thus, attaining sustainability is one of the most significant goal for a society and its people. Sustainability or sustainable development is all about making decisions and taking actions that would not create any damaging consequences for the present or the coming generation. By the virtue of this report, I have selected a sustainable issue -climate change that has a major impact on social-ecological aspect. Mitigation of climate change comprises of actions to restrict the magnitude of harmful gases that are polluting the environment, creating global warming and rupturing the ozone layer. This primarily includes minimization or elimination of human involvement in emitting the greenhouse gases. These gases includes Sulphur dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) is considered as primary cause of global imbalance in climate. With the help of sustainable development there are initiatives taken to develop product and service in such a way that it CO2 neutral or negative. For instance, Microsoft one of the most acclaimed and well-known organization is focusing on developing their products that carbon neutral.
The system of social-ecological system comprises of unit made from the interaction of bio-geo unit as well as combined social actors and various institutions. Such systems are complex yet adaptive as well as delimited by spatial or functional boundaries that surrounds the ecosystem. A social-ecological system can explained as a system of bio-physical that regularly interacts with social factors in most resilient and sustained method.
Essence of Sustainable Development
Development on the cost of the environment most dangerous and damaging development that is required to be identified and halted. The need of the hour is to develop sustainably as it is essential for maintenance of the environment. The entire objective of sustainable development is considering the environment as to be one of the important stakeholder and putting people at the heart of everything. Many organizations and corporate have taken up the onus of developing in harmony with environment as well as contributing to sustainable development. Sustainable development has three primary pillars - economic, environmental and social, which can be also called as people, planet and profit.
