The two key theoretical contributions, which are being shown by James Reason for the work health and the safety management, are two kinds. First, is the Swiss Cheese Model and second is the Safety Culture Model. The Swiss Cheese Model of the accident accusation has been used in the risks analysis and the risk management. It has been including a range of safety factors such as aviation safety, engineering and healthcare safety.
Swiss Cheese Model improves organizational safety by clarification of the accident investigation and identifying potential hazards. There have been layers of blocks in the model, with punctured holes, through which defects in a system can be detected as well as prevented (Larouzee & Le Coze, 2020). Safety Culture Model reflects a proactive stance, which has been used for improving the occupational safety and most importantly how people think and behave in relation to the safety in the organization. James Reason has used both to improve safety in occupation.
