BUSINESS COMMUNICATION
#1 The three qualities required for building an effective team
Introduction
A collaboration of a brilliant team of individuals with effective skills is not adequate to develop an efficient team. An efficient team is significant for the sustained growth and development of a business organisation for the long-term future. A team needs members who have same vision and are driven
by that vision to be genuinely effective and be productive. The members are contemplated to possess a mutually effective and quantifiable objectives that are driven to each other which contributes to the success of the entire team (Kumar, Deshmukh & Adhish, 2014).
The qualities required for effective communication comprise of the following:
i. Transparency in communication
Communication needs to effective in order to develop a sustained relationship among the members of the organization. Developing the interpersonal relationship in the organization among team members depends on effective communication. The effective aspects of communication such as, how frequently and freely the members communicate—determines the effective relationship among the team members. Simply said, you will feel more at ease sharing ideas and insights with the team the more openly you communicate with your teammates. This is just one key factor in why contemporary firms place such a high value on communication and collaboration tools (West, 2012). Coming up with open and transparent communication channels foster transparency and therefore helps to build effective teams.
ii. Mutual responsibility
Team members has the effective accountability for the team both individually and collectively. They are not accountable for any failure individually in the team. Everyone shares the equal responsibility of the failures and successes in the team. It is obvious that no team members are individually responsible for any activity in the team. Together, they should celebrate their victories and pay tribute to each team member's exceptional efforts and contributions to the group's overall effort (Ginting et al., 2020). Delegation of responsibilities in a proper manner ensures that responsibilities are distributed evenly among members of the team.
iii. Encourage dissenting viewpoints
The significance of the team depends on the aspect to decide on a shared objective. However, this should not be contemplated with regards of stifling other viewpoints. Different viewpoints within the team can effectively improve the performance of the team; its competitive advantage is a diversified team. Diverse viewpoints inspire creativity and original thought. Creativity is sparked by imagination and novel concepts. You won't find those essential "out of the box" concepts unless the status quo is shaken and questioned (Cimatti, 2016).
Conclusion
Employers look for applicants who can function well in a team setting for every position. Strong communication, teamwork, active listening, and problem-solving abilities are typical of "team players." To strengthen your teamwork abilities, discuss them with your manager or a reliable co-worker to determine where you need to grow.
