ETHICAL SOURCING
Ethical Sourcing ensures that responsible and sustainable means have been adopted to obtain products. Ethical Sourcing is considered to be a feasible approach to supply chain management and Sourcing (Fariss, 2021). It also includes in-depth details of the entire procurement process, from engaging to managing relationships with the suppliers.
Issues Concerning Ethical Sourcing
Starbucks is considered to have ethically sourced its coffee in corners. The main stone of its ethically sourced approach to get coffee is coffee and farmer equity. Suppliers are responsible for producing proof of payments made for coffee beans during the supply chain process. It includes an amount paid to farmers directly for their production (Kang & Namkung, 2018). All coffee must meet the standard of high quality that Starbucks maintain. A major issue addressed is when farmers, in time of harvest – cycle, starve to cover expenses until the crops are sold. In the time of cash shortage with farmers, they tend to sell their crops to the local buyers less.
