Race, Ethnic, and Diversity Studies FINAL APPLICATION Social Application, you will be provided with a list of movies. From this list, you may select one movie to use for your project. After reviewing the movie, you will complete an exercise that demonstrates your understanding of key terms and concepts by socially applying them to certain scenes in the movie Watch one of the select feature films below and... Apply 25 of the 31 terms identified below to one of the videos listed below. You can use each term only once. Give enough detail so I know that you know what the term means. This is to be sent to my e-mail address outside bb. If you want to watch a video that is not on the list you need my approval first. The format of the application is to number each scene that contains a word that could be applied to the class using several sentences for each number to describe the scene. Describe the characters and behavior and underline the term in each number as well. For example: In the movie Tuskegee Airmen: 1. First lady Roosevelt was a change agent when she went to Tuskegee Airbase and asked the officers in charge why were these men not fighting. They should be sent immediately into battle, isn’t that why they were trained? She was a catalyst to getting these men recognized for what they were trained and capable of doing. You might need to play and stop the video several times throughout because if you are not familiar with the movie, it is a lot to take in. Remember when you send this to me place the class number in the subject line because I have several on line classes. Videos to be used: Tuskegee Airmen, Remember the Titans, Anna and the King, Billy Elliot, Gattaca, Shine, Crash, American History X (rated for violence), Radio, Windtalkers, Spanglish, Forest Gump, The Great Debaters, I Am Sam, Grand Torino, Boy in the Striped Pajamas, The Help, because there are so many wonderful feature films, feel free to request a different movie prior to starting your work Naïve offender Cognitive level of prejudice Perpetrator Stereotyping Affirmative Action Social norms Change Agent Culture shock Discrimination Ethnocentrism Acceptance Emotional level of prejedice Minority group Annihilation Marginality Racism Selective perception Defiance Sexism Exploitation Paternalism Ageism Expulsion Maternalism Assimilation Negative Self-image Endogamy Amalgamation Xenophobia Dominant group Ethnophaulism
