RACISM AND PREJUDICE
The young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are currently facing an
epidemic of syphilis disease, which is quite infectious and spreading rapidly among the concerned community. These people predominantly belong to the age group comprising between 15 to 30 years. This outbreak which is ongoing in the country of Australia in the central, northern and southern regions is required an enhanced response (Simone Louise, Hilary, Allison et al. 2019, p. 67).
For this purpose, the national aboriginal community controlled health organisation or NACCHO, which is one of the peak bodies that advocates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and Community, have come forward for the help and service in order to fight this critical disease of infectious syphilis which has engulfed the community recently (Atkinson, 2021, p. 3). The NACCHO in this respect has come together with the Health Department of Australian Government and the Flinders University to work upon the task of coordinating the response of over 21 million dollars in the course of a four year period from 2017 to 2021 to be able to provide funding to the workforce for augmented health and testing at the point of care or PoCT directed especially for the people of the Aboriginal community, with Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Services or ACCHS within the affected regions of the outbreak.
