Reading: Erikkson, C., Wilkins, A, & Watson, J.T. (2016). Socratic questioning. Caring for practitioners: Relationships, burnout, and sustainability. The reading is on the “Assessments” tile on Moodle. The authors of this article contend in their conclusion that, “We violate God’s plan for shalom when we do violence to ourselves and others through burnout. While this statement may seem extreme, we contend that the experience of burnout represents a violence of self-deception and expectations of others that extend beyond capacity for health.” Having read this article carefully, please answer these two questions: 1. Maslach’s theory (briefly referred to in the article) includes three components of burnout: “emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment.” Maslach and her colleagues have identified six specific areas within the work setting that contribute to the risk of developing burnout. Please name these and identify which of these factors would be most likely to negatively impact you in your intended or current work setting and why?
