Reflective Journal2 REFLECTIVE JOURNAL 2 Marcus McCall 2/8/2021 Reflective Journal Last week’s learning has made me understand that instruction goals are simply expressions of general results desired from instructions. An instruction goal will give me a clear statement to observe behaviors that learners will demonstrate due to the education. However, it is different from how the exact instructions will be carried out. On the other hand, performance objectives will help me understand how the instructions will be carried out instead of how, as a learner. Still, I should also be able to exhibit before the instructions are considered competent. This week, I have learned how I could measure my learning. It could be done in two ways, such as summative assessments and formative assessments. Tests, quizzes, and graded courses are summative assessments. Any means by which I, as a student, will be able to receive inputs and guiding feedback on my performance to help me improve will be a formative assessment. Social media (an amalgamation of technology and media) is a pervasive force, though, in the lives of 21st-century learners. Embi and Graham (2011) stated that it offers a user experience that encourages students to create and share new content while enabling communication, unlike any other learning technology. Learning with advanced technology and media is more effective, in my opinion, as it helps in leveraging appropriate learning theory and instructional design. It could be used in my student life daily and will help in my learning, as well. I could create a Facebook group for my class, where daily notes and ideas could be exchanged. If I ever become a teacher, I could use Twitter as a reminder to my students and let them notify, that they need to complete an assignment for a particular due date or that they have a project coming up soon, so study this or that. Due to the Corona Virus outbreak and the global lockdown, schools and colleges are closed. It is only because of technology and social media that education has not been affected. Every student can attend their classes, do their assignments, and write their exams, online. According to Fu et al. (2019), corporate and Government organization employees can do their daily jobs by sitting at home using advanced technology, though offices are closed. According to Rushby (2013), LinkedIn acts as a professional social forum for employers to connect with applicants or search for potential employees. In the next week’s materials, I will be looking forward to evaluating a learner, as it is a new theory. By understanding learner evaluation, I think I will be able to assess my learning, which will help me score better and ultimately make a promising career. I will be able to learn about multiple test formats. Through self-assessment, I have helped me identify my progress until now by observing my skills and knowledge gaps and setting realistic goals. Reflective Journal2 REFLECTIVE JOURNAL 3 Reflective Journal This week, I have gathered knowledge about theory, assessment, and instructional technology. Instructional technology is the outcome developed from the use of learning theory and instructional design model. Instructional technology is profoundly used in everyday work and home life concerning its benefits, implying that instructional technology can improve the learning process. Today, technology is widespread in all areas, whether it is the school, offices, or colleges. Access to computers has become more comfortable, which results in digital devices reducing the usage of pen and paper. The instructional technology implies the theory and practice of using technology for education as a student instructional technology will help me in interactive collaboration, active learning, social learning, and project-based learning. It has made collaborative education easier and affordable to be carried from home (Embi & Graham, 2011). The amalgamation of education with technology is entirely new to me. I recognized how books, pens, and paper were the only instruction modes in my childhood days. The notes were prepared in the written format; the assignments were designed and submitted in written form. Instructional technology has completely changed the whole scenario of education. It has made the assessments more frequent and quicker, and tracking the students' progress has become much more comfortable. It helps considerably in aiding formative assessments, boosting engagement, identifying the possible knowledge gaps, and supporting in-depth learning, enhancing the knowledge setup of an individual (Anderson et al., 2008). The role of technology in modern classrooms will be the most useful stance for my peers and me. It will help in developing good collaborative learning within the school. As information sharing will be much more comfortable than earlier times, the digital tools accumulated in education will help work collaboratively outside the classroom. The instructional technology will further be helping in completing the projects remotely. It will help eliminate several constraints like the standard working hours and the compulsory geographical locations. This technology will also help work collaboratively with the teachers on several projects where their assistance is needed. Virtual classrooms and online learning models can be implemented, possibly the best version of the instructional technology in education (Khan, 2011). The instructional technology amalgamation would be a profound step for both the teachers as well as the students. It will increase the real-time feedback rate, as it would be easier to track the students' activities both in the classroom and outside the classroom. More information regarding the views of the students on any particular topic can be exaggerated through the process. However, harnessing appropriate instructional technology is necessary to get the best benefit out of it. The instructional design theory influences the methodology of the assessment and the use of technology and media in education by possibly preferring the best options to increase students' educational effectiveness. I have personally always learned better in one on one session. These sessions feel personal, and the student's concentration gives the student less time to get distracted. The idea of individualized online classes with due dates offers people a time frame to learn, reducing procrastination. This concept is influenced by various images that existed before, but it is a new way of looking at it. The added element of peer interaction also helps to improve how education is being passed on. Peer Education has always been an informal part of the way information is dispensed. Many studies have shown that peers teaching peers have more impact in colleges and schools than teachers teaching the same topic (Krouska, Troussas & Virvou, 2017). This, as Peter Norvig said, is due to the idea that peers know where to start. Peers are both equally new to a subject and often understand why their peers struggle with an issue. I think this is an important part to highlight. Teachers can incorporate this into a teaching strategy. They should make their lesson plans from learning this information for the first time (Mohapatra & Mohanty, 2017). They should focus on the questions they had and whether they struggled with the concept. This insight can allow teachers to make lesson plans from a beginner's point of view. This reduces the gap that there is usually there in the system. As teachers come from an expert point of view, the students are beginners who have no clue about the topic. Most useful concepts Open Source Learning is something that the education system should incorporate. This learning method ensures that everyone has access to the information and the information is continuously updated and improved (Johnson, Thomas & Fishman, 2018). This seems like a good idea to replace books of the curriculum that often have outdated information or concepts that no longer work in the current world. The process of making information accessible to everyone comes with its own set of problems. But this should indeed be where the future is headed. Knowledge shouldn't be denied to anyone. For a society to grow and change, learning makes people understand the past and the direction the future is heading in. This framework will help to create an environment where knowledge isn't a privilege. Another way education is being modified is the interactive platforms. These platforms help the student change the way the knowledge is dispensed to suit their needs. This is extremely important as it allows the student to understand their learning style (Markova et al., 2019). Once someone knows their learning style, they can frame all knowledge in a way so they can grasp the concepts. It also makes education fun, which motivates the student.
