Introduction
Interactions among the children develops based on the culture, languages and the environment in which
they grow. It is receptive and expressive communication skills which is crucial for the processing and communication of information. In most of the urban schools English is the second language taught to the children. The first language is the home language which is taught to the majority of the children (Bialystok, 2006). The word bilingualism means to communicate fluently in other languages such as English apart from the native language. The brains of the children who speak bilingual language are different than their monolingual peers. It is due to rise in global migration which resulted in various challenges related to education and the cost associated with employing English language teacher. The study is centered around the fact whether bilingualism in the early childhood phase enhances the children’s skills and how the bilingual gap impacts the language and learning skills of the children at school. There have been instances where children learn bilingual skills from an early age whereas other children learn a second language post learning a language. There was research on concerns to the idea if bilingualism confuses children. But it was observed that it does not confuses the children, neither does it have any negative impact rather have socio-cognitive advantages towards the growth of the children.
Analysis
    The children who are bilingual are from the heterogenous groups. They speak variety of languages and their support towards the community varies by geographic location or social context (Hamers and Blanc, 2000). The bilingual gaps which develop among the children with respect to language and learning skills are enormous. It is poor socio-cognitive development among the children which occurs due to lack of knowledge of two languages and can have an impact on the processing of words and thoughts. Hence, there is a greater emphasize necessary for the growth of socio-emotional development among the children. Further, it’s the bilingual children who are at an advantage for being thoughtful towards the communication necessities of their peers (Nicoladis & Genesee, 1996).
