Ethics Project
This ethics project will be led by myself, Samuel Jones. My team members include John Camacho, and Tyler Powell. Below is an outline of our responsibilities. Before losing our last team member it was decided to divide the work evenly between us. Because there were unforeseen circumstances, I thought it fair to only give one assignment to my other members, and I picked up the left out portion.
Samuel (Project Manager): I will be responsible for the powerpoint, as well as the report justifying the need for a code of ethics. I will also be relaying information to my teammates through email every couple of days, posting in the journal, and discussion board on the team group page. I have also informed my team of the expected due dates of work. By 11/5 there needs to be a blog update of whatever work they have in the group page. By 11/5 I will have the power point completed, and by 11/8 the report on the need for a code of ethics. By 11/10 I have recommended to the team that we be completed with all of the work, so we can have time to collaborate on any last minute changes, and ensure that the goal of the project is met.
John Camacho (Team Member): John will be responsible for explaining the importance of the development and implementation of ethical code, and how it relates to IT professionals.
Tyler Powell (Team Member): Tyler will be responsible for the ethical responsibilities of IT professionals, and the ethical challenges they face.
Before any of our work can begin we must first decide what will be in our code of ethics. Here are some key points that we are exploring to aid in the development of our own code of ethics.
What should be in our IT code of ethics.
1) Message from CEO or Boss about importance of IT Ethics (Maintain open door policy for ethical questions)
2) Purpose and Scope of code of ethics
3) Actual Ethics, and core values (meat and potatoes) A) Treat all data as confidential B) Only disclose data on a need to know basis C) Treat others, with respect D) Be professional ECT (If you all have more to add please comment)
4) Reporting measures
5) Ethical Decision making
6) Relationship between ethical and legal
