The following is provides the procedure to solve the Bridge truss problem solution using ANSYS APDL.
a. Select
“ structural” in preference tab
b. Applied element type as “Link 180”
c. Provide real constant and cross section area of frame structure 80 in^2
d. Select modeling and create key points in order to prepare bridge frame structure and connect each key point as provide geometry.
e. Assign mesh operation in order to discritize entire geometry into finite size and shape.
f. Assign material properties to bridge truss as provide in following figure.
g. Applied boundary condition and loading condition
The force applied in negative “Y” direction i.e. 1kip = 100 psi. Also, one end is one degree freedom (allow to move in y-direction only) and other end is zero degree of freedom or fully constraint.
h. Solved the ANSYS simulation and plot results in terms of displacement, stress and axial forces.
