Select a city or metropolitan area and research it to identify the major tourism draws in that area. Such draws could include year-round or seasonal activities, major sightseeing venues, cultural attractions, etc. Choose one of the draws and, in a simple bullet format, identify and explain networking possibilities that would help promote a facility in your area as a place tourists would favor over the competition during their touring activities. For example, in Sedona, Arizona, one of the major tourist attractions is the Sedona Jeep Tour. The Best Western Inn of Sedona has capitalized on this attraction by collaborating with the Pink Jeep Tour Company and offering various accommodation packages for customers who are going on the tour. If you are unable to identify a tourist attraction in your area, you may research one in a different familiar city.
When you have completed the bullet points, write a 500-750 word pitch to the tourism company and explain why you believe a relationship between your facility and their tourism company would be mutually beneficial. Discuss how the relationship will help boost business for both companies during off-peak seasons. Your pitch should read as a narrative and as though it will be distributed as a memo prior to a meeting with the tourism company. Include any background information needed. In your pitch, you do not need to go over each of your bullet points in extensive detail, but they should definitely be used to make your argument. During a meeting with the company executive is when you would typically have an opportunity to answer any questions and clarify any bullet points.
