Introduction
Social issues are problems, which exists not only on surface of a society but has fixed their roots deep inside. Here we will be discussing about multiculturalism, a social problem, which has taken charge over Australia. The impact of it and the social change process, through which it can be a part of the society for positive change.
The role of community development will help in overcoming this problem and creating a sustainable place for all. The discussion will be followed by conclusion and recommendations in order to make it a requirement for social change and involve community to be more tolerant.

Overview of the Issue
The value position of multiculturalism within societal framework of Australia is one of the social issues, which requires immediate action from political and social perspective. It is required as Australian ancestries come from varied communities from all over the world. It is the strength of the nation, which no longer capable enough to serve the purpose.
Causes
· Increased immigration: Migration lead to intolerance towards multiculturalism as employment started being reduced for native Australian people.
· Racism: Due to influential white settlers in the history, the racism was able to make its place in the system and it affected the human rights.
· Terrorism: It changed the behaviour of people towards certain communities and they were tagged as terrorists and threat to society despite playing their innocent part.
· Awareness: One of the major factors is absence of awareness. The nationals should be connected to the multiculturalism policy and its benefits.
Reasons
It has distorted the community experience of trust and support system. It has led to feeling of insecurity towards some communities, which is believed to have given rise to increased violent actions. Despite having policy for multiculturalism, the Australian government is not able to create safe haven for global population.
The planning and control aspect is not effective whereas on the other hand the access to get citizenship is liberal. According to Elias, Mansouri and Sweid (2020), nationals have taken the issue in their own hands by displaying and creating disturbance in the society.
Impact
The multiculturalism has affected the Australian society both positively and negatively. The discussion is in relation to dominance of negative impact. It is being observed that after 9/11 the tolerance towards other communities is reduced. Some alcohol-fuelled violence was done against Middle Eastern people, communities for Asian countries and minorities.
