This assessment is to be completed in the simulated work environment in the RTO. Assessment Task 2 Instructions Carefully read the following: Next Technology Pty Ltd is a large technology and communications consultancy. It is in a process of expansion, setting up several offices in a variety of countries. The company needs a network system to connect all of the offices. In the role of Network Engineer for Next Technology, you are required to design and configure the complex network and then to manage the network. Plan and design network to meet business requirements Review the information provided in Company Requirements. Use the internet to research options for providing the network functionality required by the company. Use the Network Plan and Design Report Template to write up the results of your planning, research and analysis. 2. Present Network Plan and Design Report As per company procedures, you are required to present your Network Plan and Design Report to your Manager (your assessor) in person. Present your proposal as set out in your Network Plan and Design and Report. During the meeting, your Manager will ask a number of questions to clarify the plan and design you have developed. Install and configure the complex network Assume that your Network Plan and Design has been approved by your Manager. Your task now is to install and configure the complex network to meet the company’s requirements as per the Network Plan and Design you have developed. You are to install and configure all the elements of the network design, including servers, routers and switches using the Packet Tracer software. You must complete all of the following tasks, saving each of your installations and configurations, as well as taking screen shots of each installation and configuration as evidence that you have completed this task. Your assessor will also observe you inputting the data for at least one installation and configuration. You are required to take screen shots of all of the configurations you complete. Label each screen shot with a number so that is it easily identifiable. Using the packet tracer software, you must: • Check the cable connections required as per your Network Plan and Design and then install the appropriate cable connections using the Packet Tracer software. • Install and configure the server’s IP address and services, including the IP addresses for all LAN computers. Ensure that when configuring the server that you set it up so that there are automatic updates. • Install and configure the router including the routers dynamic addresses and ports. • Configure secure shell on routers (SSH) to enable secure management of the system, as well as remote access services. • Install and configure the switches. You must make a copy of each configuration to ensure secure data management. Your assessor will also observe you completing at least one of the installation and configurations. 4. Test the system The next part of the assessment task requires you to perform a complete test of the network system using ping commands. You are also to demonstrate your ability to implement the Access Control list in such a way that Sydney local area Network can’t ping Bombay Local Network, but Bombay Local area network can ping Sydney Local area network. This will show that you can implement the security system that you have designed. Finally, you will need to show your assessor the use of Secure Shell Management system that will enable the network system to be remotely accessed. Plan, design and implement a voice and video business communications system (Skype for Business VOIP) In the final part of the assessment task you are to assume that Next Technology also requires a VOIP solution to enable the company to conduct meetings and videoconferencing. You will be required to install and configure Skype for Business VOIP, as well as demonstrate how the software can be used for voice chat, video conferencing and instant messaging. In doing this you will also demonstrate that you can integrate multiple network services across the complex network you have designed and installed. Your assessor will observe you installing and demonstrating the system. To do this you are required to: • Create a shared file server with the rights for full control, • Install Skype Business VOIP administration tools • Prepare an active directory • Perform scheme and forest preparation • Create DNS records and topology • Refine the topology • Install the components on the front-end server • Finally install the Skype for Business Server System and enable users 6. Send an email to your assessor. The text of the email should be in grammatically correct English, written in an appropriate (polite, business-like) style.
