ssessment Description

The purpose of this assignment is to write a review of the research articles you evaluated in your Topic 5 "Evidence-Based Practice Project: Evaluation of Literature" assignment. If you have been directed by your instructor to select different articles in order to meet the requirements for a literature review or to better support your evidence-based practice project proposal, complete this step prior to writing your review.

A literature review provides a concise comparison of the literature for the reader and explains how the research demonstrates support for your PICOT. You will use the literature review in this assignment in NUR-590, during which you will write a final paper detailing your evidence-based practice project proposal.

In a paper of 1,250-1,500, select eight of the ten articles you evaluated that demonstrate clear support for your evidence-based practice and complete the following for each article:

  1. Introduction - Describe the clinical issue or problem you are addressing. Present your PICOT statement.

  2. Search methods - Describe your search strategy and the criteria that you used in choosing and searching for your articles.

  3. Synthesis of the literature - For each article, write a paragraph discussing the main components (subjects, methods, key findings) and provide rationale for how the article supports your PICOT.

  4. Comparison of articles - Compare the articles (similarities and differences, themes, methods, conclusions, limitations, controversies).

  5. Suggestions for future research: Based on your analysis of the literature, discuss identified gaps and which areas require further research.

  6. Conclusion - Provide a summary statement of what you found in the literature.

  7. Complete the "APA Writing Checklist" to ensure that your paper adheres to APA style and formatting criteria and general guidelines for academic writing. Include the completed checklist as an appendix at the end of your paper.

Refer to the "Evidence-Based Practice Project Proposal – Assignment Overview" document for an overview of the evidence-based practice project proposal assignments.

One of the major threats that the older people are facing are Falls across the world. The hospitalised patients as the falls are associated with increased risk of hip fractures, hematomas or in some cases death. Many studies have reported that the interventions prevented the risk of f
all but not explained the comparative analysis of the effectiveness of interventions. The current review focusses on the some of the reported literature of the applications of interventions using randomised and non-randomised clinical trials for the prevention of the falls by considering the clinical data and employing various algorithms.
2. Search Methods:
Different data sources were used – MEDLINE, PubMed, Nursing literature and Cochrane Register of Controlled trails. The keywords used for searching are Falls interventions and preventions.
3. Synthesis of Literature:
1.     The current study (Lamb et al., 2020) aims to review the application of PCIOT practices to prevent falls and fractures in the older people by community screening and implementation of various therapeutic strategies.in this study the methods used are trail design, participants and oversight  used the statistical analysis  from the reported literature and recruited the general medical practices - 3 practices with 3 interventions and the questionnaires was validated by the algorithm (Lamb et al., 2020) . Otago Excessive program - twice a week and recreational walking program - 6 months in 7 sessions (4 in person and remaining in telephone) where the therapists used behavioural interventions with ankle weights for exercises. Multifactorial intervention with linked treatments are based on the medical history for a period of 18 months.
Psychotropic and psychotropic-related medication, bisphosphonates and mineral supplementation during the trial period (Lamb et al., 2020).
They have concluded that the results are similar to the already published results and form their study they have concluded that the exercise is less effective  and when applied by the pragmatic settings, the multifactorial approach and the exercise did not result  in lower fracture rates than by mail alone (Lamb et al., 2020).
2.     This study (Liu-Ambrose et al., 2019) conducted a single blind clinical trial on 70 years adults from a fall prevention clinic to study the effect of exercise on the subsequent reduction falls by giving care and home-based strengths and an exercise program by both physical therapist and geriatrician for a period of 12 months (Liu-Ambrose et al., 2019). The incidence rates are 1.4 vs 2.1 for exercise patients vs usual group. The difference resulted in the changes in the fall incidence from 0.74 and 0.64 with no adverse events. They have concluded that the exercise (The Otago exercise program with 6 different  strength exercises (knee extensor, knee flexor, hip abductor, ankle plantar flexors, ankle dorsiflexors and 11 balancing exercises. the intervention program reduced the significant falls which need to be studied in further clinical settings (Liu-Ambrose et al., 2019).
3.     This study (Avanecean, Calliste, Contreras, Lim, & Fitzpatrick, 2017) has focused on the study of effectiveness of unintentional falls on the adult patients who got admitted because of any condition or illness. Randomised control trials were conducted to study both the primary outcomes (fall rates) and secondary outcomes (fall related injuries) where the reviewers used the methodology of the Joanna Briggs institute standardised critical appraisal instrument for the extraction of the...
