Step 1: Download/save copy of class survey results posted by your instructor (Excel file) in Week 10.

Step 2: Organize the survey results Excel file like the Donut Shoppe example from Week 6 & 7

Step 3: Analyze the data. Assignment requirements for data analysis:

  • Descriptive statistics for all questions in the survey

  • Conduct one confidence interval calculation: choose one question to use for this calculation. Think about a question where it would be important to know how accurate the findings are to the population being studied.

  • Conduct two comparison analyses (run two Z-tests): you may choose which questions to use for these two comparisons. To start, think about what might help answer the research problem or objectives. What will give you deeper insight into the results?

  • Conduct two relationship analysis (run correlation and/ or chi-square tests): you may choose which questions to use for these two relationship analyses. You can do two correlations, two chi-squares or one of each). To start, think about what might help answer the research problem or objectives. What will give you deeper insight into the results.

Step 4: Develop your slide presentation (with voiceover) to summarize your findings and insights

(min. 10 slides- max 15. slides):

  • Title/ Cover slide (does not count towards maximum number of slides)

  • Agenda (table of contents, does not count towards maximum number of slides)

  • Research Design: explain our overall approach to this class research project:

    • Research background; research question and objectives

    • Population of study

    • Research methods used

    • Sampling method and sample size

  • Answers to Research Problem & Objectives (based on your analysis)

  • Overview of findings (from Step 3 above): shows actual data (numbers), uses visuals and text

  • Actionable recommendations for Metro Vancouver restaurants: what should they do? Why?

    • You MUST support your recommendations with evidence from your data analysis and research (data, information, trends, feedback, etc.). No OPINIONS without researched evidence. It is expected the recommendations follow DIKWD (Week 9).

  • Limitations to the research: would you do anything differently to improve the research approach based on what we have learned about designing, conducting and reporting on research? Explain.

ANSWER: SUMMARY DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS (METRIC VARIABLE) IMPORTANCE OF VARIABLES

Q2a    3.71    1.21    1.00    5.00    Average importance level to employees wearing facemasks    Standard Deviation    68% of responses would rate importance between appx. 2.5 and 4.92 on average
Q2b    2.45    1.38    1.00    5.00    Average importance level to employees wearing faceshields    Standard Deviation    68% of responses would rate importance between appx. 1.07 and 3.83 on average
Q2c    3.01    1.43    1.00    5.00    Average importance level to employees wearing gloves    Standard Deviation    68% of responses would rate importance between appx. 1.07 and 3.83 on average
Q2d    3.15    1.29    1.00    5.00    Average importance level to single use or digital menus    Standard Deviation    68% of responses would rate importance between appx. 1.86 and 4.44 on average
Q2e    3.53    1.21    1.00    5.00    Average importance level of 50 % limited sitting capacity    Standard Deviation    68% of responses would rate importance between appx. 2.32 and 4.74 on average
Q2f    3.68    1.20    1.00    5.00    Average importance level of 2 meter distance between tables    Standard Deviation    68% of responses would rate importance between appx. 2.48 and 4.88 on average
Q2g    4.03    1.08    1.00    5.00    Average importance level of frequent cleaning/sanitising of high touch surfaces    Standard Deviation    68% of responses would rate importance between appx. 2.15 and 5.11 on average
Q2h    3.49    1.24    1.00    5.00    Average importance level to available safety policies at restaurant    Standard Deviation    68% of responses would rate importance between appx. 2.25 and 4.73 on average
Customers give most importance to frequent cleaning of high touch areas followed by employees wearing masks
This is the summary statistics of Question 2 regarding importance rating of different parameters to customer. Each sub question/parameter has been marked as Q2a,Q2b etc.For each subquestion, the mean ,standard deviation, minimum value of rating & maximum value of ratings have been calculated. For example, for Q2g,we see that average importance given to the parameter of frequent cleaning/sanitising of high touch surfaces is 4.03.standard deviation of rating is 1.08 & range varies from 1 to 5.the average importance given to this parameter is highest among all ,standard deviation is also lowest. It shows it is the most important parameter/criterion for customers.similarly, you can see the values for other parameters/criteria.

People are most likely to visit coffee shop/café & casual dining (Q4b & Q4d)
Here we are trying to find out which type of restaurant will be preferable to customer if he wants to return after Covid19.We have calculated the descriptive statistics for each type of restaurant from the survey data such as Mean, standard deviation, range, mode, median etc etc. Here we find that the customers will prefer coffee shops and casual dining restaurants as its mean score is highest at 3.29.of course both are associated with high standard deviation.

At this time, if you were to return for DINE-IN services at a local restaurant, where would you prefer to dine?
         Frequencies    %'s
    Indoor sitting (1)    24    10.71%
    Outdoor sitting (2)    103    45.98%
    No preference (3)    97    43.30%

While majority (46 %) prefer outdoor sitting, conclusion is not quite robust because 43.3 % are also indifferent

    Total (n):    224

ANSWER: SUMMARY DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS (CATEGORICAL VARIABLE)
Central Tendancy:    Outdoor sitting    (most typical response)
Variability:    medium    As next highest preference is 43.3 % close to outdoor sitting,so we can say most people prefer outdoor/ indifferent
This is a non metric variable,so we have found out the frequencies & % for each category of sitting arrangement.we find that around 46% prefer outdoor setting but also almost equal no of participants (43.3%) also are indifferent.so while the data has medium variability,we can say better strategy will be to provide outdooe setting for returning customers.

At this time, how soon are you willing to resume DINING IN in at restaurants?
         Frequencies    %'s
    Immediately if they are open(1)    65    29.02%
    Prefer to...
