Student Instructions
In order to be assessed as Competent (C) in this unit, you need to provide evidence which demonstrates that you can perform the required competencies to the required standard. Competency depends on consistently demonstrating the skills, attitude and knowledge that enables you to complete workplace tasks confidently in a variety of situations.
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to access general information on facilities, products and services available in the local area and to provide this to visitors.
To attain competence in the unit ‘Provide visitor information’ you must:
· Successfully complete the Theory Assessment (via the exam portal)
· Successfully complete the Project/Practical Demonstration (Trainer to observe)
General instructions for students
Some of the tasks require practical demonstration of your skills and abilities. Your trainer/assessor will observe you during the practical demonstration and will complete an observation checklist for each practical activity, which will form part of evidence will form part of evidence gathered for this unit of competency.
The practical demonstration will take place either in the classroom environment on a date scheduled and allocated to you by your trainer. All tasks related to practical demonstration are to be completed at the same time (i.e. on one ocasssion) in the classroom environment. Practical demonstration will take approximately 7-10 minutes.

Practical demonstration will take approximately 7-10 minutes.
Task 1
Your task is to prepare an information pack for a client from Melbourne who is considering travelling to Paris, France. The client has advised that they will be travelling with their elderly mother who, while quite fit and healthy, has significant hearing loss. They prefer travelling in the cooler months, but would like to avoid mid-winter if possible. They are very interested in European history and art. They do not have any financial constraints for this trip.
The information pack should include enough information for the client to make an informed decision about the suitability of this destination.
In your information pack, include information on:
· Features of the international destination (such as areas of environmental, social or cultural significance or sensitivity
Paris is the capital city of France and it is one of the most populated and exotic cities of the world. It is a major Railway Highway and air transport hub that is solved by the international airports of Paris Orly and Paris Charles.
The country is located on the north bending arc of river Sen and includes to Islands the island of St Louis and the larger Ille de la site. It has a several prominent Hills of with the highest is Mountmartre. The English channel is located at the downstream from the city and the city is spread widely on both the banks of the river. The climate of Paris is typically Western European oceanic climate which is affected by the North Atlantic current. The overall climate throughout the year is mild and moderately wet. Paris is one of the few world capitals that has really seen any destructions. The architectural harmony of Paris has stretched its connection from the historical advantages and the Roman culture that it bears. Paris is one of the most popular destinations among tourist and it is known to be the city of romance which is one of the most visited places in the world. People from all over the world visit Paris to fill the magical and amazing vibe that it oozes out and the lovable culture where Travellers can experience with just one trip.

Paris is known for culture which is one of the most important tourism products of Paris. More importantly The structures like Eiffel Tower and the cultures of Roman Empire are the specific tourism products of Paris.
It is also known as the fashion capital of the world and host various fashion events throughout the year. The city remains at the four front of the international Trends and many established boutiques are quintessential part of any visit in Paris.
The city houses some of the many world famous Michellin Star restaurants as well as cosy Bistros. Along with these There are several bakeries and cheese shops that will make the tourists keep tasting the delicious food items of the city. The city has also been a home to various adventures activities like bubble football, Skydiving and many more.

Paris is located in the Northern Central France in Northern bending arc of the river Seine. The city is widely spread in both the banks of English Channel and has several prominent hills.
This is located in the heart of Europe. The grasslands and the scenic beauty of the continenutal shelf is known for the predominant urbanization.

Paris has a typical Western European oceanic climate that are affected by the North Atlantic current. The overall climate throughout the year is mild and moderately wet. The summer days are usually warm and pleasant while during the winters it snows. Paris has a well distributed rainfalls throughout the year and it is known for heavy showers which is abrupt and intermittent.

The country has one of the best medical facilities and has effective health and safety policies.
Health facilities are available in all the regions across Paris. The medical facilities in Paris is one of the best across the globe. The travellers must carry their vaccination cards and other health documents so that they can use it during the unforeseen circumstances.

There are no such travel restrictions in Paris. However in case of the spread of pandemic there were restrictions and lockdowns.
Travellers are required to carry the passports wherever they are moving around in Paris. They are reqired to travel with the government identitities of their own nation too along with the travelling visa. Overall Paris is safe, yet they have to keep their belongings safe so that they do not fall in any difficulty.

There are well built road infrastructure that makes transportation easier from one part of the city to the other. The road, rail & air transport connects all the major tourist destinations in Paris. The cost of the transportation is moderate and all the places are well connected with road and railways. Railways are much cheaper and it is well connected across Europe.
Car rentals are available in the city like Paris on Wheels.
· Services for hearing impaired
Effective services are provided for the tourists having hearing issues. The sign language is commonly used so that the deaf do not have any problem while communicating with each other. Theseservices are provided at the airport.
· Languages
English & French is the official languages in Paris. The citizens of the country mostly use English while communicating with the persons coming from abroad. For this reason French is also widely used in the country.
· Currency and currency exchange
Euro is the currency used. The currency of Paris is Euro and the rate of currency exchange against is 1.01 Dollar. Digital methods of exchange are also very popular in Paris and the value of the currency is quiet moderate.

Task 2
Young couple from Melbourne is planning their honeymoon and they are considering travelling to Canada or USA. They would like to travel during spring- summer months. They enjoy hiking, kayaking and outdoor activities and would like to see some National Parks. They would like to stay in a romantic couple retreat accommodation with spa and massage options. They do not wish to travel a lot in USA or Canada, they would prefer to stay in maximum 2-3 places and enjoy these thoroughly. They would like to stay 3-4 weeks. Please choose only 1 destination: either USA or Canada.
The information pack should include enough information for the client to make an informed decision about the suitability of this destination.

Canada is a country located in the Northern American continent and if the second largest country in the world with an incredible geographical variety that is a significant tourist attraction. The country tourism is centred in almost all the parts of the country and a large cities are known for their culture diversity as well as national parks and historic sites.
