Students explore how purpose and audience affect the choices they make as writers in developing ideas and planning work, making choices about structure, conventions, and language to develop voice and style. The paper will be marked out of 30 marks. Instructions The task is broken into two components: a Creative Response and a Written Explanation. Part A: Creative Response Your first draft is due on SUNDAY 13th of February 2022 800 – 1000 words Short story or multi-modal piece (e.g. podcast, radio drama, music video, screen play) Created over the course of the next 3 weeks Hurdle tasks will be due in the lead up to the due date of the final piece. 1. You need to select ideas or themes you have found within the Australian anthology you are most interested in. This task requires you to create an original piece that draws upon elements from a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 of the Australian texts covered in class 2. You must explore ideas of Australian identity and belonging in your piece Part B: Written Response · Your written response will be submitted with your creative response end of week 4 · 400 – 500 words response · 30 minutes · Handwritten in class under SAC conditions · You are not permitted to bring in any notes · You can bring in an English dictionary into the classroom during the assessment task · Once the piece is written, you must also explain and justify the decisions you made during the writing process in terms of the language you used, how you made your form obvious, what your purpose was, and how the piece was inspired or influenced by the text (in terms of ideas, themes, characters, message) Planning your creative: Four steps to effective planning 1.
