Introduction
Master of Business Administration is one of the
educational programmes at postgraduate level, which is designed particularly to help students to develop their practical skills in management and it helps the students to be a suitable candidate for the corporate world’s work (Fisher, 2019). A MBA degree holds a positive impact on a person’s life as that will help them to be successful in their professional career and also development of their career takes place. I have studied many subjects related to business management and helped me to develop my skills that will help me to work properly in my future career. In the reflective essay project, I have tried to highlight the Capstone subject that is very useful for the students as both theories and practical assessments helps to grow and learn skills to perform in the real world business organisation. I have reflected in the essay that what I have learned from the course and how it will be helpful to grow in my career.
Summary of Reflective Capability and Learning Including Knowing, Being Competencies and Four Essential Capstone Skills
MBA students require learning and developing skills through the three most important elements, which are known as knowing, doing and competencies. I have being able to identify the strategy concepts that will help me to understand such as strategy theories, competitive advantage, strategic complexity, industry change, dynamic capabilities and sustainable performance. Further, in the Capstone subjects I have learned to assess a diverse range of management theories critically, accumulated throughout the Master’s qualification and the connection that they are having within them.
The knowledge gathered will help me to apply those in the real world scenario of work and it will help me to improve my performance and will provide a competitive advantage over others. The course will further help me in undertaking individual job responsibilities and the skills gathered will help me to solve complex business problems. Thus, I will be able to perform an effective management practice. A proper communication skill along with effective communication, critical thinking is the part of learning process. It is very important to know that when the skills need to be implemented in workplace (Hobson et al. 2019).
The competencies field of the candidate is being assessed by the academic review, which will state that the manager can help to improve the organisational performance through their knowledge, which will turn into action in an effective manner (Buenviaje et al. 2016). Generally, the firms when hires a MBA student to work in their organisation looks for skills where they will be able to do a brand promotion along with developing networks for the firm and they must be absolutely clear about their job roles in the organisation (Ramlall & Ramlall, 2016).
In the course of MBA, I have learned many skills that will help me to perform my roles in the organisation. Among all the business strategies, I have learned during the course period, the SWOT analysis and Porter Five Force strategy are the most effective because these strategies can be used and implemented in all kinds of business ventures. As a leader in the firm, I believed that the strategies if I use in my project report would be very valuable, as that will help me to apply these strategies in real world business venture.
Leadership is one of the most important skills that every manager requires to perform during the daily course of activities in the organisation (Little, 2018). Due to being an MBA student, the skills I have learned would not have been effective unless that is being used in the practical field. It has been seen that the leadership skills have less effectiveness if they are on theory basis and limited to class work only. Hence, a capable leader will learn those skills and apply them in the real world based on the need of the hour to address the problem and thus improve the business development of the organisation. During my course, I have learned many theoretical skills, which have a very limited implementation in the practical field.
It would be beneficial for us students if the practicality of the theories were being taught to us. The examples of many entrepreneurs and leaders have been shown where we see that how they have overcome their difficulties and what strategies they have adopted to accomplish their goals. However unless we apply those strategies in the practical field then it would be difficult to understand and there would be less implementation of those strategies. The knowledge skills that the industry leaders give would certainly enhance my knowledge; however, the skills will be enhanced the moment I get an opportunity to apply them in the real world business...
