Students will critique the use of involving violence, abuse and
oppressiontrauma-informed approaches in a case
and explore alternative perspectives and approaches. Students need to explore the
strengths of a trauma informed approach but also the limitations, and explore alternative approaches
drawing from a variety of theory and practice models explored in the course to date.Students are to prepare a report on one of the case studies that provides a summary of presenting
issues and presenting issues using a trauma-informed approach and presenting issues using an
alternative approach (of your choice). A critique of perspectives, including trauma informed
approaches is to be provided that discusses the benefits and limitations of each approach.
Please note: the case studies are chosen as they include examples of compounding structural
oppressions, please ensure these are addressed in your responses.Students should structure the report by identifying and discussing key issues or potential issues in the
case.
